I am replacing an old unit that has male screw-type connections. My supply and discharge lines have female connections at the ends of their 1/4" plastic tubing. Will I be able to use this filter as is or will I have to adapt the connections?

Answer:
Buchcnanlake,
The filter works by the water pressure in the water line. This filter reduces chlorine's taste and odor, particulates, lead, mercury and more. Thank you for viewing this Whirlpool Corporation accessory.

Rated 3.8 out of 5 by 5 reviewers.
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Seals leak Useless easy to install but seals don't work well have to work on trying to stop leaks on fittings November 3, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Not as described did not fix This was described as an inline water filter. This it is not. Incompatible connections made it useless to install inline with the water source to refrigerator water connections. I did not pay enough attention to see how it connected other then needing plastic hoses and wire ties. Not the threaded ends that I needed. Night work fine for you, but not for me. March 12, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by does the job...after additional parts are bought the product does what it's supposed to do, so that's a plus. It's been working well for a few weeks now. However, I'll never understand why these filters don't come as a kit, with installation parts. It took an additional 2 trips to the local HD to get it installed. February 21, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to install. I installed the filter on my icemaker. It took less than 10 minutes...very simple. Make sure you follow the instructions and flush the filter before completing the installation. If you don't you will have grey ice for a few cycles. September 13, 2011
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A - ok worked great; thanks for sending this, but would be nice if I could buy them in the store September 6, 2011
