Product Overview

Always stay connected to your Whirlpool Smart front load washer with 6th Sense Live technology and Nest Learning Thermostat compatibility. Whirlpool brand and Nest have taken the first step in their collaboration with a "Works with Nest" washer and dryer that integrates with the Nest Learning Thermostat. The laundry pair connects seamlessly with the Nest Learning Thermostat to leverage Nest's Home and Away modes. Both the washer and dryer can keep clothes fresh if a cycle ends while the consumer is not home. The dryer can also switch into a slightly longer, more energy-efficient cycle if the consumer is away. This model pairs these exciting new technologies with the exceptional features you expect, including Precision Dispense Ultra, Quiet Spin 360 technology and the FanFresh option with Dynamic Venting Technology. (Whirlpool Smart App also available without Nest Learning Thermostat).

Customer Questions & Answers

Does it work with Nest thermostat?

Asked by: Nick
Supposedly, but I could not get the app remote control features to work so I will not be keeping the units. I think Whirlpool needs to do some more work to get these features ready for consumers.

Can this washer wash a king-size comforter effectively?

Asked by: fs2014
This Whirlpool Front Load Washer should be able to handle most king sized comforters. Possibly a California King or really thick comforter might have trouble fitting, but otherwise I don't think that you will have an issue. This is one of our largest front load washers available. The washer will definitely wash the comforter effectively. Thank you for viewing this Whirlpool home appliance.

Smart 4.3 cu. ft. High-Efficiency Front Load Washer in Diamond Steel , ENERGY STAR is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 34.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wifi connected washer and dryer is helpful I got this washer and dryer purely for one reason, that it was wifi enabled and connected.. I keep the washer and dryer out in the garage, and the notification thing on their app is very invaluable. Not to mention that it connects to my Nest and I can monitor its energy consumption as well as set times to turn on when the energy cost is the lowest... Yes, might be all fluff and nice to have, but it fit my needs exactly and I have not had any problems in the past year and a half of ownership.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Whirlpool washer with 6th Sense review First things first, I really, really like this washer. With that out of the way, let me tell you a little about why I like it, and can recommend it. Before I talk about the advanced features, let me mention that I am an IT person by trade, and love technology. With that being said, If a product does not perform its core function well, all of the "bells and whistles" do not matter. Thankfully, this washer does both. It performs its core function (washing) extremely well, and also has plenty of technology if you take the time to set it up. 1. Setup I think whirlpool could make the setup of this washer easier for non technical people. The washer did not even come with the appropriate manual for how to put the washer on your wifi network, which is needed if you want to use the "smart" features, or have it text you, etc. It supporst wifi protected setup, but most people do not use that. In order to get it online without wifi setup, you have to access the washers network page. Thats not too difficult, but for some reason whirlpool does not give you the instructions for how to do this in the box... you need to go to the smart appliance website, create an account, and then hunt around for installation instructions. Most people will give up before getting it online, unless they are technically inclined or have a techie friend / spouse / child. The online setup (as I mentioned) is a 2 part affair, with putting the washer on your wifi, then creating an account on the smart appliance website, then finally adding the washer to the account. On the web portal, you can input 2 phone numbers for the washer to contact (to let you know things like detergent level, when its done washing, when it wants to be cleaned, etc), and also setup an email address if you prefer to get email over txt messages. If you have more than 2 people you would like to get notified, you are kind of out of luck. They should let you notify more than 2 people, as these notices are kind of cool. 2. Usage The washer is very intuitive to use, and has a nice display. The settings are pretty self explanatory (jeans, heavy duty, normal, etc), and there is also a nice built in help feature that tells you what each option does. Additionally, there is a "specialty cycle" section for things like blankets, comforters etc. Each of the presets (both the normal ones and special ones) can be adjusted. If it suggests warm water, and high spin for your blanket but you want to use cool (not cold) water, you can easily change it. If you have gone through the effort of getting the washer online, and setting up your online account (and telling it who your utility company is), the washer will recommend delay washing when the rates are higher. It will automatically start at the time the rates go down. A nice feature for saving a little money if you do not have to have your clothes done right then. It also has a fan fresh setting, which will tumble the clothes when they get done, so they do not sit and get stale. Very nice for if you are washing and running errands at the same time. I really like the automated soap dispenser as well. You tell it the concentration of your liquid HE (high efficiency) detergent, and whether your water is hard, and it automatically measures out soap for the size of the load. No more guesswork, or using too much soap. Using too much soap is one of the reasons front loaders can start to grow mold, so this is really nice. Its also nice if you have people who wash and just throw the maximum soap in there "because more soap = more clean, right?" The spin cycles of the washer extract so much water that your dryer will dry your clothes in half the time you are probably used to. The washer uses almost no water (if you watch it while its washing, the clothes basically do not sit in water at all... they are soaking wet, but not sitting in a pool of water. basically ideal for conservation and cleaning). I am in california and had to order this washer from a vendor in chicago, because it was not sold here. I think whirlpool should release this washer nationwide, as it does an excellent job of getting clothes clean, is very quiet, and has a pretty intuitive interface. The only negative is the awkward setup process to get the washer on your network. Its expensive compared to simple washers, and I can not speak to its longevity as I have owned it for 3 months or so, but would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to get a top of the line washer (its great even without the app features), but would highly recommend it for anyone looking for top washer performance along with some pretty nifty convenience features / notifications.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Confused by basic feature Washer came in today, it looks great! However, ran into a question without an answer before the first use. The Precision dispense. The manual says to select the soap concentration being used. Options are: 1X, 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X, and 6X. The manual also suggests using Tide products. (Great, I already use that) However, Tide does not advertise or label their products with a concentration level. Ok, so the manual say consult the manufacturer's website. Checked it out... nothing. Checked a local store, not sure I saw any products advertised in this way. Confused that a newly designed washer, with the manufacturer's recommended brand of product, does not align to the actual detergent product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love WiFi connection! Really like the connectivity of this washer! Keeps me out of trouble with my wife :-). Many times in the past she asks me to move the clothes from the washer to the dryer, I usually would forget...not now. This washer is connected and sends me an alert when it is done - my reminder to move the clothes to the dryer! Thank you Whirlpool for keeping me out of trouble! Oh, and the number of feature are great and it does a GREAT job of the core function...cleans me clothes!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent washer - few quirks In the beginning I could not tell if this washer does any miracles in terms of cleaning, but after a few weeks my wife told me that my white socks are becoming white again, so there! Yes, it washes very well. All the things most people care about are excellent, washing, noise, vibration, pretty lights, etc. ... but I am the picky one, so let me highlight the bad: - the large (relative) LCD screen rely on side (under) buttons to allow you to make choices, like an ATM. Well, some of this buttons require more force to push then others and also their top surface is un-even, as in, some stick out a little more then others. My wife never noticed, though. - the screen has some animation I could live without. - connected functionality is limited. You can get instant power consumption, turn air fresh on, get notified when the cycle is done, but not much more. This machine can store 7 custom programs that I have to put together with the buttons on the machine. This would be perfect to do on my phone or iPad and then send to the machine, but we're not there yet. I also did not see anything about firmware updates, so I don't hold any hope of better future functionality. - turning ON the Wi-Fi is done by pushing the SmartGrid button. Your router has to be instructed to accept the new client. Most router call this a WPS printer add, but the instructions do a bad job at pointing that out. In fact I am going to call out the instructions on this machine as well as other Whirlpool products as mediocre at best. - The detergent dispenser will only measure the detergent, but will dump all the bleach and softener like any other cheap machine. SO although you can just add the clothes in and push start, without worrying about adding detergent, you still have to open the drawer to add those additives. Most times I forget. In conclusion, I am very very happy with this purchase and I would buy it again. There are small improvements to be made as I mentioned above, but most mortals will not even notice them.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not buy!!! Washing machine had to be replaced after 8 months. 4 years later cost us $500 in repairs, 4 months after that it's broken down again. Worst washing machine ever!!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great machine with amazing features The interface with the web page is not working correctly. The self cleaning feature fails to reset itself. Has so many features that people in the household are unwilling to learn how to best utilize the appliance. I love it but that is because I read manuals from beginning to end.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great example of excellent engineering and design! I like the varied cycles to choose from. This unit is efficient, quiet and dependable. It is easy to use. The "state of the art" design and style are very attractive.
