Answer:
You would think it would, but rain does NOT leak in. Of course, be sure the base is sealed where it meets the roof and do follow the instructions about sealing the joint for adjusting the tilt so it stands straight upright on your roof. The ventilator top is designed to not leak and mine does not. Besides the one I just installed, I have another on another shed in use for 13 years now. In those 13 years Read More

In those 13 years I have seen ONE DROP from a heavy rain! My laptop often sits directly under it so you can see I have no worries about that. Read Less

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 6 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fine Product Ventilation powered by the wind. Mine is on a storage shed. Just follow the included instructions for installation. I like the black color as the black roofing tar - I tarred the joints outside the vent - doesn't show. Quiet and efficient. Besides venting the shed itself, the WhirlyBird also vents the flooded deep-cycle battery of the solar system for lighting the shed. July 26, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by junk doesn't spin unless the wind is plowing, out of ballance June 22, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Makes a difference! It definitely makes a big difference in the temperature of my attic, and therefore my house (I don't have much attic insulation). I highly recommend it. May 21, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Easy Install However Installed really easy however I did not get any of hardware for mounting..... no screws or the locking clamp. That is why I only rated it 4 Stars. Just make sure when you buy it that it comes with the screws and locking clamp. Good thing I had some sheet metal screws, far as the clamp I used some thing I had laying around and made my own. Jury still out if it helps keep the house cool. September 23, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great cooling effect I already have three on my house. They really cool my house. The difference is very significant. I decided to put two in my garage because it gets really hot and it does not have any venting. So it gets too humid inside. I expect it will keep the garage cooler and dryer. For what it does, it is a great money saver. October 30, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Be Cool & $ave Electricity. Saves juice and you don't have to wire it; how environmentally friendly can you get? June 26, 2010
