Can it be buried under ground?

Asked by: rmjm
As long as there is an opening for the water to flow out, sure it can be buried.

Does this fit inside a 3"x4" downspout or is it supposed to fit on the outside of the downspout?

We have gutters going into the ground from the downspout that need replacing...right now there is a downspout that is screwed onto the outside of the downspout....can these work with what we have?

how do you attach it to downspout

Asked by: mush
It's a friction fit but I secured it with a couple of stainless steel screws through the extension and into the leader pipe.

This replacement was meant as a quick fix but is working so well it is a keeper. Both ends fit over the downspout so the water flow meets no resistance and goes where I want it to. I may still drill in a screw to lock it in place since the volume of rain we are getting is raging down the spouts at times.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Useful and easy-to-install This downspout extension is vinyl. It won’t corrode as would a galvanized downspout, and it won’t permanently bend, as would aluminum. It’s 27 inches long, and can be stretched to 53 inches. It can be used simply to extend a downspout by its length. Or it can be bent — its corrugated section allows you to put a semi-permanent bend into it, so that the downspout water is diverted away from the foundation, a good idea if you have water coming into your basement, or even if you don’t, for water can freeze and damage your foundation. You can bury it so that you won’t trip on it. You can even put two or three bends into the corrugated section, as in the photo below. The ends are different sizes to fit over various downspouts. The large end is 4” x 3”, and the small end is 3½” x 2”. The vinyl is paintable — we use solid stain, so you can match your downspout color, and match the ground color if you wish. This is a useful and easy-to-install downspout extender.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great quality downspout These downspouts are made out of good quality, flexible plastic material. They expand by just pulling them. They are easy to maneuver in the shape or path that you need them. They do a great job of channeling the rain where you want it. They easily attach to your existing gutter down spout and they stay on with no problem. I have on connected to the down spout inf ront of my house to channel the rain down the driveway so it doesn't flood the flowerbed and I have another in the back channeling the rain to my rain barrel. They tend to last 3-4 years depending on where you have them and if there is any vegetation that could grow into it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good for directing water away from foundation I like the ability of this product to be able to extend up to 4 feet or compact down to around 18 inches The flexible design affords easy movement when needful to mow the lawn or clear the sidewalk for the snowblower. t comes in a variety of colors, so as not to detract from your landscape theme, or even to merge in inconspicuously with your shrubbery or foundation plantings. Installation is tool-less, but a self tapping screw will give a more permanent installation. Depending on which end you use, this works with standard 3"x4" or 4"x5" downspouts..

I needed to link three of these together and the system failed to perform even after making a trip back to the store for advice which I did not get-no one knew the answer. I cobbled together a solution on my own.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not the same as shown in the ad :( The item shown in the online ad is what they USED to sell...and that actually WAS a great product. What is actually in the store is a different design that makes it absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to interconnect multiple spouts. When you follow the directions on the spout and the sticker, cutting off the squared area and try to insert one rounded end into the other, you can't. Both rounded ends are exactly the same diameter, which makes it impossible to feed one end into the other...maybe the Hulk can do it, but no normal person can. the old design was easy to connect...I really wish they'd bring back the old one...if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Choice! Makes it easy to adjust rain water flow away from the side of the house toward the lawn, street, or into a nearby garden, water feature or shrub area Flexible, but holds angle reasonably well Simple to install but you will need additional hardware to attach to the existing rain gutters. I am happy that I got the white-colored one as it is now customizable if I ever decide to paint it to better match our exterior paint of the house.

Product is very flexible ...easily attached to down spouts even in difficult positions. The openings on either end are a perfect size.. however I would have preferred .. 1. A larger diameter tubing .. maybe an inch larger. 2. If one end had the 'down spout' opening & the other end has a round 'splice-able' opening.
