4 Qt. Electric Ice Cream Maker in Brown is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yum yum fun Wow the best ice cream I have had in years. I found all of the ingredients at my local food store. Nice healthy real food ingredients. I followed the instructions for vanilla and it is awesome. It made a little more than four quarts. I used four containers to freeze after I made it. I scooped the ice cream out with a black plastic spoon before removing the beater. It made it easier getting it out. Then I could not resist licking the beaters. Take it slow follow instructions and half an hour after I started I had great real ice cream. WARNING the motor is loud as it spins the tube in the ice. I made in the sink but you might want to make it out on the porch. Simple awesome pure great tasting ice cream.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Love It I love the White Mountain 4 Quart, old fashioned, ice cream maker. I have the hand crank version and this motorized version is so much better. The 12,000 RPM motor system lets you add all your ingredients and just wait, no work involved. The dasher fits the entire length of the stainless steel canister, unlike some freezer bowl type makers so it does an excellent job of scraping every last bit of ice cream. The white pine bucket must me conditioned before using it the first time and if not used frequently, every time you make ice cream. Just fill it with water and let it soak about a half an hour while your getting things ready. I did not experience any leaks but there will be some sweating or condensation. Place it accordingly. It's a great machine and fun too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Made Ice Cream Maker This electric ice cream maker is made from quality hardware with real wood and metal parts with a powerful durable motor. The bucket comes with a handle for your convenience. I am very impressed with the craftsmanship of this maker as the bucket is crafted from pine and bound with strong galvanized hoops and electroplated fittings. The canister is tall and the blades are made from beechwood blades. I can hardly wait to make a some vanilla ice cream, but my market was out of rock salt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Electric Ice Cream Maker I love ice cream and having a farm with fruit trees including blueberries, blackberries, cherries and strawberries I will be in hog heaven this summer making home made ice cream. It is the perfect size and is high quality made to last through many years of use. It is designed beautifully and the wooden pail it sits in looks tasteful and high quality. I recommend getting one if you love ice cream like I do. Oh, a small recipe book is included.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Looks Great but ... It looks fabulous. We were so excited to use this because it reminded us of the old movies where people churn their own ice cream. We thought it would be fun to sit around and make this with our kids and that we could all eat a tasty frozen treat after all the work we put into making it. However, the ice cream would not freeze. We waited for well over 2 hours and it was not frozen. It was very disappointing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks beautiful and can be a showpiece for your party The White Mountain 4 Qt. Electric Ice Cream Maker features an old fashion wooden bucket made of wood slats and metal rings. It looks beautiful and will add fun to any get together. The nature of this type of bucket can lead to some leakage. The instructions indicate to soak the bucket in water for an hour to help the wood swell which will reduce leakage. This worked for me and leakage was minimal. In my opinion the motor is critical. I can’t imagine hand cranking ice cream for 30-60 minutes! The motor performed well in my case and did not get hot but it was only 60 degrees outside. It did leave some grease on top of the container lid but no grease reached the ice cream in the container. The dasher assembly is thick cast iron and wood so I would expect it to be durable over time. The canister is stainless steel. The ice cream maker includes well written instructions and a few recipes in booklet form. We used the classic vanilla recipe and the ice cream was spectacular. The ice and ice cream salt (also known as rock salt) ratios are something one needs to get used to through use. I followed the instructions around using crushed ice, running it a few minutes then adding two cups of rock salt. It then said to add more ice and rock salt when it gets down to 2-3 inches. I think they meant when the ice melts down 2-3 inches from the top not down to the bottom of the bucket. My ice cream took over an hour to reach the right consistency. I believe this is because I did not use enough rock salt. The whole objective of the rock salt is to melt the ice into brine that transfers the temperature into the canister to freeze the ice cream. My ice stayed fairly solid but once I was done and pulled the canister out I found a block of ice a few inches thick at the top and a lot of brine underneath. I should have put more rock salt in to melt the top layer more. However, if one adds too much salt or does it took quickly the outer layer of ice cream will freeze and the inner layer will not. So finding a balance is key. I found aligning the motor can be tricky as you have to get the square dasher blade seated in the motor then the square protrusion of the canister lid seated. Since the dasher spins, I found just twisting the motor around didn’t work. I had to lift, turn, try, repeat. One thing to note is the loudness of the motor. It is a loud grinding noise and if you are having a gathering this might make it difficult to have conversations. The other item of which one should be aware is that salt is corrosive. Wherever you set this up, make sure the surrounding area will not be damaged by the salty brine solution. It can kill grass, damage concrete and corrode metal pipes. You will certainly spend more money on ingredients to make fresh ice cream compared to buying it at the store. But this lets you make it with basic ingredients and no chemicals. Plus you have fun making it and can customize the ice cream to your liking.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Made in China Very disappointed to see that this is made in China. The wood bucket leaks and the motor gets very hot. This did not happen with previous models made in the USA. I am worried that this will be a product that I will pass down to my grandchildren, like older models of the same ice cream maker. For the price, it should be! I don't mind paying more for well made products. Only time will tell on this one.
