I picked up the White Rodgers P200 5-1-1 day single stage programmable thermostat for my main floor of my house. I was looking for something that could regulate my gas fired hydrostatic baseboard heat. I have no Air Conditioning on my main floor. This product fit the bill perfectly. After reading the instructions a few times to become familiar with the install, I was ready to go. Installation went very smoothly. I only had 2 wires to hook up. The unit takes 2 AA batteries that are not included. Programming the unit went well also. There is an 800 phone number for any help if you need it. I am now ready to save some money by using this thermostat.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by trogo Reduces Energy Consumption and Saves Money
The thermostat in my home was installed in 1985 and is a basic analog unit with no night setback or programming features. To save some energy I decided to obtain a new controller, and decided on the White Rogers P200 Programmable Thermostat. The instructions are very clear and concise on how to install the thermostat; from shutting off the power, identifying and marking the wires, making the proper connections and operation of the White Rogers P200 Thermostat.
The White Rogers P200 Thermostat come with default modes for temperature setback settings in both heating and cooling modes. You can also customize the thermostat to fit your schedule. It also can be set to alert when the filter needs to be changed. After using the P200 for a winter season, I have reduced the energy consumption, and saved many times the cost of the thermostat. Highly Recommended!!

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Chuck Just a couple flaws
I liked almost everything about this thermostat, including the way it continues the fan for a bit after a cooling or heating cycle. However, back lighting is rather dim, and one thing we dearly miss (and improperly assumed was a standard feature) is a "Circulation" function for the fan which was standard on our previous basic thermostat. This turned on the fan at random intervals to cycle the air throughout the levels of the home, and helped equalize the temp without having to constantly adjust settings. Unfortunately this feature isn't included, so unless we manually turn "on" the fan as needed (or leave on all the time), the upstairs is about 5-8 degrees hotter in the summer but downstairs is cool... a random "Circ" funtion would have been a good idea!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Anthony Thermostat works well
Installation of this thermostat is very easy and it helps that the directions are very easy to follow. The overall appearance of the thermostat is very clean & simple. I like that there are not buttons all over the place because the lower door is covering them. The 5-1-1 programming is just great! 5 meaning Monday-Friday, 1-1 meaning Saturday and Sunday. I love knowing that I am saving money while away at work, & that the house will be comfortable by the time I get home. Programming it is easy.
My only complaint is that the screen is not bright enough. Other than that, I approve of this thermostat.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by PHnoD White Rodgers, Nice replacement.
I ordered this to replace the White Rodgers I have that works ok but lately it seems to go through batteries quicker than I ever remember, 12 years old, discolored and it is not in the sun, no smoking in house either. OK, the wonderful thing of this new model is that compared to other t-stat’s this price is very reasonable and the base mounting holes line right up with the old ones, a quick exchange with the power off to the furnace. The pictures will show the differences of the inside, not that different (cheapened up a little with circuitry) usually Mexico made is borderline work but this was china made, oh boy. Works like the old one, I’m hoping I can get a year out of the set of batteries and see 10 years of life. 4 stars from me.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MAMAWHITE Large display with back light is easy to read
I purchased this thermostat to replace my aging thermostat that had small screen that did not light up. The size is nice and the instruction booklet was easy to use. There are labels to tag your wires before you disconnect them from your old thermostat and a easy to understand chart that illustrates the wiring instructions. I was worried the set up would be difficult with the different program options, but it was clearly outlined, step by step in the instruction book.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by HoustonWifey777 Good Thermostat, Great Price
Good replacement for an older thermostat. Sleek design. Very easy to install and easy to use as well. Basic functions that are simple to program. 5 days of the week the same, and each weekday can be programmed different. Large display with backlight ... easy to see during the day or night. Very good value for the money. Would definitely recommend this item!

This is a good thermostat but not a great one. The price is low but there are others available for the same price that are better in my opinion. H******** comes to mind and is also available at Home Depot.
It is easy to install. Most are these days when the home owner is often the one installing it. The terminal blocks work well and are not too small to handle. There is an internal switch to select Gas or Electric heat. That only means that in the gas position, there is no fan control, since most gas furnaces provide their own fan controls. I have electric heat and air and left it set to Gas because my system controls the fan, not the thermostat.
At first, opening the lower panel on the front caused the main unit to come apart from the base. But with repeated use, this stopped happening. Now it just pulls the main unit slightly out but does not separate it.
The indicators for heating and cooling on the display simply show the setting of the switch. They do not indicate when the system is actually heating or cooling. I would prefer that they indicate the actual status, not just the switch position.
The display back-light is awful. It is barely bright enough to see in a darkened room, much less in a brightly lit one. I suspect something is wrong with my thermostat. It can't be by design, or can it?
This thermostat has a shortcoming in my opinion in that it does not have a range setting for cooling or heating. The range seems to be fixed to less than one degree F, because when it is set to 78F, it cycles from on to off and on again without the temperature reading changing from 78. That is too narrow in my opinion and is a power waster. Frequent cycling uses more electricity than less frequent cycling due to the power surging at startup. I would prefer a setting of 2 or 3 degrees from min to max.
The buttons seem to be too soft and I had to keep remembering to push more forcibly, otherwise the switches did not operate.
This unit has an offset display (to the left side). I don't care much for that although I know that some people like that design.
The thermostat works acceptably otherwise.
