Can this be operated with intact window screens in a double hung window? Does the tank have to be emptied more than once a day on a very humid day?

The EER on this unit shows a higher rating than the dual hose unit they have, is that due to testing methods?

Maybe the outside is cool when they do testing, rather than real world use where the single hose has to draw hot air into the house to operate?

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 82 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good but room for improvement We haven't yet had enough heat to put this unit to the test, but so far it seems well constructed, for the most part. The window attachment is indeed plastic, but it seems sturdier to me than others have reported and it fits either of the windows shown in my photo. I will invest in some insulated weather stripping for the window, however. I agree that the addition of vertical adjustment on the vent of this unit would make sense. It's a curious shortcoming, and I'm wondering if I'll need to place the unit on some pedestal or otherwise direct the airflow upwards to balance the room's air temperature. May 28, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Time Will Tell Bought this air conditioner to replace a portable LG air conditioner that died after only three seasons (last time I buy an LG product). Looks solid, easy to install and cools the room nicely. But I've only had it a month. I'll be in a better position to rate it a few years from now. June 24, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great AC Unit I've had this Whynter unit for almost three weeks and I couldn't be happier with its performance. I have a small (650 SF) condo and this unit in conjunction with a strategically placed tower fan has been able to cool down my whole apartment to a comfortable temperature, even during the humid 90 degree days we've been having lately. I've been running the unit in "cool" mode and haven't had to drain it yet - it is definitely living up to its self-evaporating claims. June 29, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not even close to worth the money Very little airflow coming out of this thing. Very bulky and heavy unit that must sit within 4-5 feet of window due to exhaust length. Air coming out of it is also pointed at the level of your knee caps so your feet get cold while your upper body stays hot. Very loud and large power draw with very little cooling effect. Used on small upstairs in 78 degree weather,.....didn't get the area cool because of all airflow being directed forward and down. Terrible design. Water also streamed out of the back of it when moving from room to room. Both drain caps and plugs were secure. Assuming all that water was condensation from the coils, but holy cow was it a lot, especially in an area with low humidity. August 25, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Keeping Cool Seattle's weather has been crazy this year. It is so hot I wasn't able to do any house work without being hot and sweaty. This air conditioner covers my living room, dining room and kitchen. It keeps us cool and comfortable. Is worth the buy August 11, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works great It cools off our bedroom very quickly then we funnel it down the hall with fans to the kids rooms and it works great! July 21, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Saving a big bucks I live in Las Vegas and if I use my center a/c, I use 45 kwh per day at 110 degree and only 12 kwh for this one. Of course it only cools down the first floor and kichen and whenever the second floor gets cooler I can go to sleep at night. The drawback is the noise but much betteer than Lg's product. I recommand it if you want to save money. July 16, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great purchase easy light weight, but noisy. Noisy because it's a heavy duty cooler, cools room down fast and gets really cold…great purchase and can go into every room the fact its on wheels is so convenient. Works great! July 28, 2015
