Customer Questions & Answers

can this be enclosed?

Asked by: bubba
Absolutely not. The unit will fail due to overheating. Whytner uses down rev components that are not designed to handle the thermal environment of a wine cooler. My unit was in the open and died after 18 months. Stay away.

attaching door handles model WC-2461H wine cooler

I love the cooler, however I'm having a difficult time attaching the two handles. There are no instructions in your manual. I know that they screw on and the small access hole is under the rubber gasket, but I can't find the screw head. Is it a slotted or Phillips screw head? PLEASE TELL ME WHERE I CAN GET THIS HELP.
Asked by: DOMONICK
It is a "Phillip screw head". The screws should be in a small plastic bag.

Customer Reviews

32-Bottle Dual Zone Wine Cooler is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 69.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from This product works very well We wanted a wine cooler we could keep in our dining room that wasn't too large and would look nice. This product definitely does that. It cools the reds and whites to a perfect temperature and we are loving it. I researched a lot of coolers and this is a good brand and product. What I don't like is if you have a larger wine bottle, it won't fit. Also the shelves seem cheap for a $500 product. However, we got over it because overall it does the job well. We try to adjust and maneuver to get the bigger bottles in and we just deal with the cheaper shelves. Overall, if you are looking for a cooler that works well and holds 32 bottles, I recommend this for sure.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I do not recommend anyone buy this product and here's why: 9 months after I purchased this product one side of the unit stopped working. Realizing it was under warranty I contacted Whynter the manufacturer whom requested I send their services department pictures of the unit so they can try and blame me for not properly placing the unit in a well ventilated area. After I disagreed with their accusation (the unit was 6 inches away from any wall and free from all foreign objects) I was requested to disassemble the back of the unit and take more pictures. It was requested that I replace a fuse on the circuit board and determine if the heat syncs were hot (they were - ouch!). I was finally informed that they believe the unit needed a circuit board replaced and I had 2 options: I could ship the unit back to them for repair or I could have a repair technician come out and install it as it requires soldering. When I asked about reimbursement they offered a (potential) shipping discount but it would still be expensive (shipping the unit back at my expense would incur a cost of over $150) and they will only reimburse me up to $65 for the repair (though there’s not a repair service in my area that would even entertain sending a technician out for less than $100). I have unlimited resources to spend troubleshooting an inferior product so I scheduled to have a technician come out to install the replacement part. That did not fix the issue but guess what? Having the technician perform the repair services voided my warranty. Could you believe it? What a clever little loophole. So now I have a $500 piece of junk I can’t even throw away without incurring more cost. This company does not value their customers or stands by the quality of their product so please do yourself a favor and purchase a refrigerator from a manufacturer you can trust.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous Product This wine cooler has the best features and is the perfect size. Love the dual zone feature and interior lighting. I had it built in to our kitchen island. Product was packaged well for shipping, arrived in excellent shape and the only assembly was attaching the rubber feet and front handles.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not Worth it the Money Invested I bought this product because I though that the quality worth the money invested, but I was wrong. The material used it to cover the sides and the back is very poor. In the inside, the place where the wine bottle holders join the edge wall was scratch and peeling off. The doors came uneven. The poor packing quality was not enough because double will not protect the Item from damage on the shipping process. I returned it to the local store the same day UPS delivery it. Home Depot online services was not very helpful, they just said that my options were keep it or send it back, and they are not responsible for the poor product quality and the inappropriate shipping.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 32 bottle wine cooler Have had the unit for about a month. Looks great, keeps each side at different temps as advertised. Very quiet unit, better than our old unit with a compressor.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice looking but the shelves are not good for all bottle types This unit was purchased for use in a wine store to keep sample bottles at the correct temperature. For the most part the unit keeps the temperature within a few degrees of the desired temp even with fairly frequent opening of the doors, a positive aspect that is worth noting. The main issue I have with the unit is it is not deep enough to handle the taller Riesling style bottles and the space between shelves is not quite high enough to handle the wider pinot noir and traditional chardonnay bottles meaning I am not able to store the full number of bottles in the unit hence the 3 star rating. It is a good looking appliance and for the average home and average wine collection it will serve you well but remember that for non-standard bottles the unit is less than ideal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This fridge is really COOL! *cough cough* I was shopping for a dual zone, DC, solid state wine cooler prior to purchasing this the Whynter 32. I've had the "pleasure" of working on solid state coolers in the past. I know the problems and troubles they have with keeping their temperature. I was on a tight budget, and wanted to buy my wife a Christmas present that would do the job, and hopefully NOT break. The Whynter 32 is working perfectly, to my surprise. We haven't had one issue. I did notice that after we experienced an interruption of power during a storm, the cooler reset temperatures to default, but that was discovered quickly. The temperature is held consistently where we want it. I read a few reviews on this that the shelves were not removable. NOT TRUE, they are easily removable; they slide right out! So that makes it perfect for the larger bottles to find a home. The best feature of this unit, other than it working as advertised, is the look! People always comment on how nice it is. For the price we paid for it, we REALLY got a bargain, and I would recommend this fridge to anyone, including friends and family. Good luck shopping- and good luck beating Home Depot's price on this one! ;) *PS- no idea why the photos are sideways. Upload tool is Jacked. :)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad Buy!! First, this is a great wine cooler, if it works. The problem is that one side of it stopped working and I have been trying to get the manufacturer to stand behind it and all I've gotten is the run around. They don't respond and when they do they ask me the same questions that I just answered. This must be a side line for this manufacturer and they probably don't care if anyone is happy, thus all the 1 ratings on this site. I would not waste my time or money again on this product. I'm hoping Home Depot can help me but not holding my breath.
