Display blinks when compressor is attempting to adjust temperature to setting. try unplugging the unit for at least 3 minutes to restart it It is normal for the display to flash until the set temperature is reached.
make sure that there are no bottles blocking the fans inside of the cabinet so that the unit can properly circulate the air inside.
set the unit to the lowest temperature after resetting the unit should be cooling. If not, check to make sure that the compressor fan is running, that the compressor is vibrating slightly with a low hum (please see attached picture) and that the front grille is not blocked.
If the compressor is not coming on but the compressor fan is working, listen to the compressor if you hear a faint clicking sound. If so, the compressor starter may need to be replaced. Read Less

Answer:
You can hear it, but it's not going to interrupt conversation or anything like that. I have it in between two cabinets and you can still hear it when compressor runs. It's far quieter than a dishwasher.

Answer:
It is very loud. No, cabinets don't make it better. Also, it broke within 9 months. Still under warranty but customer service is ridiculous. Don't buy this brand.

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.5 out of 5 by 64 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fancy looking in counter wine storage More or less what I was looking for. The price from HD is definitely what I liked best. My first impression after just installing the unit is that it's fairly well made. Holds a good number of bottles. What I think is the best characteristic is the ability to cool fast and to maintain a constant temp over time. That's the whole point of getting a fancy wine fridge. This does it well and I would not hesitate to purchasee it again i f needed. August 15, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed Bought this unit 1 year ago. Kept in storage while new house was being built. Installed it in March of this year. Unit is now dead - runs but no cooling. Compressor, all fans operating-surmise bad compressor valves or plugged cap. tube. Low current draw so compressor is not working (no compression). No response back from Whynter yet. Will follow up if Whynter responses. August 5, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Wine Cooler Unit is pretty much as expected. Fan short-cycles about every 20 seconds, which seems excessive. July 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great look! Great look and good quality. Easy to install. I store red and white wines . May 31, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Classy wine storage unit Got this put in on the side of our island counter. It looks really nice in there. It operates very softly and is more silent than our fridge. I haven't had a chance to completely fill it up but seems to to be fairly big inside and does well cooling everything (including beer). I would buy it again and also recommend it. April 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Wine Fridge I am extremely pleased with my new wine fridge. It fit perfectly in my space and does a great job keeping my wine at the correct temperature. Good value. May 3, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by First wine fridge Bought this wine fridge for a little kitchen area I put in my basement rec room. One problem is the thing runs constantly. The area is heated with a wood stove so sometimes it's a little chilly down there when the stove is not on. The manual says the problem could be that room is too cold. But the problem persists even when the stove is running. Also it sits on a tile floor that is on the concrete so the floor is always on the cold side. Also it's rated as a 33 bottle fridge but that must be 33 really small bottles. With normal sized wine bottles it's probably more like 20-25. It does look good and seem to be built well. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by DO NOT PURCHASE Purchased this wine refrigerator and less than 10 months old it went out. After paying $600.00, it will cost $300.00 to ship back to company. I would not buy from this company again. Both Home Depot and Whytner was extremely difficult to work with. Needless to say, I now have a wine fridge that is useless. April 18, 2016
