It's supposed to. It does start up after taking out the bucket and returning it.

How far will the pump push water?

We don't have a floor drain in our basement, so I am planning to have someone drill a hole through the basement wall to the outside and drain out via pvc tubing. Will the pump be strong enough to pump up around 15 feet (5 feet vertical)? I am wondering if I would be better off with a separate condenser pump. That way if one breaks I don't have to replace everything.
Asked by: Tink
I've got it running at five feet vertical and the whole 15 feet horizontal. It's mostly working fine, for these first few weeks.

50-Pint Portable Dehumidifier with Pump, ENERGY STAR is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 76.

I am responsible for the well being of a 2,200 sq. ft. archival document storage facility located in the humid environment of southeastern Pennsylvania, in which many paper documents are over 100 years old. Maintaining a consistently low relative humidity is essential. The Whynter dehumidifier is quiet—much more quiet than others I've used—and it maintains the humidity within +/- 1% of the desired setting. The built-in purge pump is excellent. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't hesitate to buy this product This dehumidifier, has filled itself over and over, quietly, and efficiently, since I plugged it in. Our last one, which my husband thought was doing a bang up job, was really out of coolant, and doing NOTHING. This model does an efficient job, and I STRONGLY recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Absolutely wonderful. Managed to complete dry my basement to the bone. Even the wet spots in the concrete that have been around for years are almost gone. The pump is a must have feature. You'll never need to turn it off to drain it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great Just plug it in and hook the drainage hose to a sump or other drain and it does the rest. Mine has been working nonstop for the last month and requires no maintenance other than cleaning the filter screen. Really great unit!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy purchase with quick delivery. Product works well and as expected. I see a huge difference in the humidity levels in my basement. Should have purchased this sooner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I needed I had a potential mold problem brewing in a 1000 sq room with carpet. There was no floor drain, only a window 8 feet above the floor. This unit filled the tank and then pumped the water out the hose (provided). It has a humidistat to turn itself on and off as needed. Been in operation for several weeks now and it seems to have done the job.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not a good product!!!!! I purchased one of these 50-pint units two years ago and it lasted only about ten months and was giving an EC code. Contacted Whynter and spent $100 to do a return. They sent me a new replacement and I put it in operation this spring and now in September is also giving an EC code and won't dehumidify. I use this in my 18 by 26 insulated garage to keep the humidity down for the classic car kept in there. The amount of moisture removed has been rather minimal. I won't buy another Whynter product!!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Lasted one year and then....kaputt The dehumidifier worked great for 12 months and then broke. Now I get an "EC" error code on the display which the owner manual lists as a "Unit Malfunction". Ironically, it stopped working a week after the one-year limited warranty ran out.. When it worked, I really liked it. Especially the internal pump function which I used frequently. Time to try another brand.
