Answer:
Yes. When it reaches the pre-set humidity level it will shut off (including the fan). The on/off switch will remain lit. When the humidity rises again, it will turn on.

Answer:
Yes, it does! I have ours set at 50 and check it each time I am at the town hall and it has been between 48 and 52, feels good, relatively quiet too, which is good since this is our meeting room.

How far will the pump push water?

We don't have a floor drain in our basement, so I am planning to have someone drill a hole through the basement wall to the outside and drain out via pvc tubing. Will the pump be strong enough to pump up around 15 feet (5 feet vertical)? I am wondering if I would be better off with a separate condenser pump. That way if one breaks I don't have to replace everything.

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 59 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by So far a solid performance. This was the second brand of dehumidifier I purchased for a weekend cottage. We wanted something that would run while we were away without problem. The fan is relatively quiet compared to others and the pump has not failed to work during the week while we've been gone. Time will tell, but so far, we we are very happy with this unit. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Think twice. Did not last 1 season I have seen other reviews as well. When I started up the unit after 11 months, it kept going to EC fault codes and appeared compressor was not working. Got estimate to pack and ship to California for warranty, and it was $160. Went out and bought a GE. No more Whynter products for me. June 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works Fine I have been using this product for 1 month now. I set it for 50% humidity and it helps to keep the basement free of the musty odor. I have not had a problem with the unit leaking or being noisy. The pump runs quietly. June 19, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Failed after 1.5 years When it worked it did a good job, but didn't expect the unit to only last one season. Plugged in this year and continued to get EC code. Quite an expensive one year unit.. June 17, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by ok with issue Product started leaking within week. At my request, I was sent specs to disassemble and check hose connection. However for now, it did stop leaking without any change?? The unit seems nice and the pump feature has worked so far. Pump is very quiet and not noticed when running. Unit is similar to a quiet window ac. The timer feature is nice, just set in 1/2 hr increments and it auto starts and or stops(1 on & 1 off timer per setting) May 11, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Think again.......... It has a one year warranty, mine went bad (continuously getting fault codes and shutting down) in 13 months albeit, it was "off" all winter as most are. I sent questions to Whynter to see if they will help, we'll see how that goes. I performed "all" of the trouble shooting methods they say to do in the manual and my basement is in the low 60's temperature wise. I'll revise this review later after I hear back from them. Suggest you look at a different unit. April 30, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Purchase This Dehumidifier works great, easy to setup as well. April 6, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Junk Read all of the reviews before purchasing. Compressor lasted six months. You need to ship the unit to California (at your expense) during the one year warranty period for repair or replacement. There are no authorized service centers. If you purchase this dehumidifier, make sure you save all original packaging material to use with your RMA#. March 18, 2016
