Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by cooler huge but effective
All of these are big and in the way. No way around it if you can't have a window-mount or wall-mount air conditioner. This one works very well, and it's not messy. Dual hoses is a must if you want the best of these two qualities. Thanks to the huge intake and outtake hoses, it looks like Robbie the Robot (from "Lost in Space") in my bedroom, but at least I can sleep during the heat waves.

The air conditioner as received was easy to assemble with its air ducts and works as expected. The remote control is simple to operate. The overall design is quite attractive.
The window slide bars installation kit for the two air ducts was not in accordance with the product specification from the manufacturer which stated that the kit has a maximum installed length of 48". When the 3 parts of the kit were slid together so that the screws locked the parts in place, the assembled length was less than 46". Since the opening in my window is 48", this meant that I had a 2" gap to fill. I contacted the manufacturer about this and they replied that I could purchase another kit from their authorized retailer and could use the additional parts to make up the required length.

Quality product, easy to set up, cools well, energy efficient and quiet enough you can sleep with it on. However, when operating it in high humidity conditions there is too much condensation for it evaporate all of the water and a drain hose will be required. Since I do not have a floor drain available I use a 1 1/4 inch ID plastic hose on the upper drain port and let it drain into a bucket. The cool room is worth the one minute a day it takes to empty the bucket.

This dual hose air conditioner works extremely better then the single hose. I have owned both and the flow of the dual hose simple works better. The remote is nice and when you use it once or twice easy to follow.
When the room temperature becomes the optimum degree you choose the air conditioner will auto switch to a fan which is very convenient.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Toe Stick with a standard window air conditioner
Does not deliver as promised. Does not cool room very well but the main issue is the noise. Unit extremely noisy. Also runs by small remote which is not easy to use and like all remotes if you loose it you are stuck and unable to use it

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Jade Needed this during unusual heat wave!
I needed an portable air conditioner immediately because of an unusual heat wave. We've never needed air conditioning before and don't have a good set-up so had to go with portable air conditioning. I first purchased a unit locally. Had to wait in line, first come, first serve! We overpaid because of the demand and wasn't able to be fussy about what I bought. Shortly thereafter, we realized we needed an additional unit for the back of the house. I did some research and decided on this model because it was rated more energy efficient. I found it in-stock at Home Depot with free shipping for what I thought was a reasonable price. It came within the week! Very impressive!
The reason I have rated this air conditioner with just 3 stars is because I don't believe it is energy efficient at all. Compared to my first unit (LG) this Whynter runs constantly. The LG has an energy efficient button that we use exclusively. It only runs when the room needs cooling. Whereas the Whynter runs the fan all the time regardless of the temp. Constant loud noise for just a fan and when the compressor kicks in, it's almost unbearable! The LG is loud when the compressor is running, but at least it's quiet a considerable amount of time. The Whynter is only remote controlled except for the on/off button on the unit. Forget watching TV in the same room. I had to string up headphones to hear the TV. A real hassle. There's plenty of other differences where the Whynter is lacking. I guess I was swayed by the energy rating and wish I had purchased a different brand. Yes, the Whynter has a better warranty but the design flaws outweigh the warranty that I can't use in this regard because my dissatisfaction has to do with the basics of the unit not that it is malfunctioning. Just poor engineering.
Home Depot was great though!

This is my first AC and it works fine. I thought it might be too much for my bedroom, but it's just fine. As for the reviews I read about the noise, it's not loud at all. I make the same noise as a window AC. It doesn't bother me or anyone else in my home....... If you need a AC, this is the one.....

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Mike Broken Fan
This unit worked very well for about a year. I wanted a good dual hose unit and this fit the bill. Then the poorly engineered plastic fan that exhausts the hot air out blew to pieces and the pieces wedged so that the fan motor couldn't turn. That burned out the motor. Since it was out of warranty, I ordered the repair parts and repaired it. Again, after about a year, the fan blew apart, wedged and burned out the motor.I believe that the heat destroys the integrity of the plastic in the fan and the life span is about a year, just long enough for the warranty to run out.The three year warranty on the compressor is worthless since it will break down before it's life reaches it's end. I'll be shopping for a new and better made unit this time, rather than making repairs on a unit that requires total disassembly to get to the fan.
