Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Rich PROBABLY OK FOR THE CASUAL WINE DRINKER
This is my second wine cooler. I loved the features of my first cooler (which I had for 4 years), an Avanti, but lots of problems with the cooler and trying to deal with Avanti cross country. So, for a replacement, I wanted to have a local store such that I could return it locally instead of having to ship it back if it was damaged or not working correctly. Home Depot carries the Whynter 40 bottle Elite (shipped to store) and it received pretty good reviews. For the reviews of those purchasing this cooler shipped from Amazon, the bad ones were due to the cooler being damaged when received. By picking the cooler up at Home Depot I could check for damage before accepting it (it was ok).
The only "feature" I dislike is that the temperature readouts and control panel are inside the right section of the unit. It is much more convenient to have the controls and readouts on the outside of the cooler as was the case with my Avanti unit. I must admit being aware that that the control panel and temp readouts were inside the cooler before purchasing the unit, so I really cannot complain after the fact. I do much prefer the "French Door" zone separation much more than the single door "Upper and Lower" zone separations I have looked at. And, this cooler runs much quieter and less frequently than my previous cooler.
In regard to performance, this cooler is experiencing about a 6 degree (F) variance in its temperature maintenance for each of its two zones. The side for my whites is set at 50 degrees and its readings for the past week vary from 49 to 55. The side for my reds is set at 60 degrees and the readings vary from 56 to 62. I have checked the temps using both a good analog refrigerator thermometer as well as a recently purchased high/low digital thermometer which has good reviews for accuracy. I will also point out that the unit's temperature readouts alway display the "50" and "60" temps even when the thermometers I test with show otherwise; apparently the cooler's readouts are just the temps set by the user. In doing a little on-line research on temperature variance for wine storage, apparently for the casual wine drinker a 5 or 6 degree variance is not a super serious detriment to the stored wines.
I did give serious consideration to returning this cooler to Home Depot for a refund and purchasing a higher priced cooler from another local store, but now have decided to keep it unless something goes wrong with it during its return timeline. I also purchased the very pricey extended warranty which I still might return. I am recommending this product, but with the caveat that it might not be suitable for wine consumers more finicky than myself and that I have not had the unit long enough to make a recommendation on its quality.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Karla Great "Beverage Center" - very versatile!
Like that interior construction allows to store not just wine but beer, cans of soft drinks, bottles of water. Also love the french doors - don't take up much room when open and can open the side you want. Greato have a soft beep alarm when you don't close the door completely. So many great advantages I never even thought about wanting!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by whiner2 Probably should avoid this item
I bought one of these for my wife for Christmas 2014. From the time we brought it home it was very noisy, but I intended to eventually build it into an island, so we put up with the noise. About 3 weeks ago, we wife heard the unit beeping; when she went to check on it, one side of the unit was at 27 degrees. Needless to say, it ruined about 15 bottles of wine. It could not be adjusted to maintain the set temperature. I called Whynter to see how I could get it fixed (out of warranty, of course). They suggested I ship it back to them for repairs. Since shipping both ways (not to mention cost of the repair) would probably be close to what I paid for the unit, I now have a combination Wine Refrigerator/freezer. If you have any expectations of buying an appliance with a reasonable life, I would urge you not to buy this wine refrigerator.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by newclawfoottubowner Love it!
I looked at A LOT of wine refrigerators online and read all the reviews from others before deciding on this model. I love it! The look is so great and I couldn't be happier. We purchased two to place at the end of our kitchen island under the granite counter. It is a little noisy when the compressor is running but nothing to dissuade my recommendation.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ernie Works well, Quiet, and Spacious...
Installed the Elite Dual Zone in an island. It keeps the bottles at temp and looks nice as well. We aren't connoisseurs so our needs are strictly for entertaining and not long term wine storage. The unit is very quiet but I am certain that you would have more noise if the unit is not installed in a cabinet. The feature that we like is the open door alarm. This has sounded several times as guest do not always shut the door completely. I had looked at several wine fridges and this one was a better value than most. We have owned three other fridges in different homes over the years. I feel that this is the best one that we have owned.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Don Great cooler but very noisy
All in all this cooler if very good and very attractive to look at. Here is a quick summary:
Holds temperature very well
Functions as advertised
Very easy to load and get access to wine
It will easily hold 40 bottles of various sizes of wine
When running the unit it extremely noisy, louder than our refrigerator
It cycles on and off a lot, maybe to get the temperature but maybe they should add more insulation.
Key pad for setting the temperature is hard to use.

Sharp looking, heavy duty, solid construction, nice roll out shelves, space for odd size bottles, elegant interior lighting, easy dual zone temperature adjustment and best of all the price was right for a cooler this nice. I've seen similar units costing $1500 dollars and more. It is a little noisy when the compressor kicks in but no problem for me as it's installed in my garage. It's not energy star rated but can't imagine it uses too much electricity.
