Energy Star 40 Pint Portable Dehumidifier-DISCONTINUED is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 42.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet and effective dehumidifier I am currently using this is unit in our basement where there's occasional seepage of moisture after heavy rainfall. It actually looks really good for a dehumidifier. First impression is that it really does a great job getting the air dry. First hour of use produced a noticeable amount of moisture in the bucket. Within a few hours the wet patch on the concrete floor all but disappeared. The unit was filling up rapidly as well. We don't have heating in the basement but the dehumidifier worked easily in relatively cold temperature. It's nice that it comes with drain tube that you can attach and drain into a larger container or outlet. The tube is short but you can just get a longer tube to suit and attach the existing hose connector to your own tube. Remember to bring the connector along to try it on the new tube diameter before purchase. Not the cheapest unit around but it does perform superbly. All in all, I'm very pleased with everything about the unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful Product This is a great dehumidifier! It doesn't assume too much space and not too loud. It works really well and I prefer it over the LG that I purchased a couple of years ago. I love the fact that it will draw moisture until the bucket is full or it can be set for a predetermined amount of desired / undesired humidity. I am sooo glad to have the musty odor from our raised ranch lower level. it's reservoir is small, but dumping the water 2-3 x / day is ok ... my outdoor flower beds are grateful. I highly recommend this dehumidfier... It may be small but it certainly works really well. I don't use the hose since I move it around btwn laundry rm and lower level of our raised ranch. I think it is a great little machine... pleased with my choice.. so glad I did the research.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compact drying for tight spots We have this in a small crawlspace. It's small enough to fit and we have it continuously draining. The tube the comes with it works fine but is not long enough for what we are trying to do. We just bought 12ft of tubing from our local HD store and used the original port adaptor that came with the unit. We have the water draining with gravity. Runs flawlessly. Completely satisfied for our needs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just a bit too small perhaps I am happy enough with this dehumidifier BUT wish I had purchased the next size up. I choose not to hook the hose up because I have cats and don't want them near the water that runs off. Therefore am using the bucket and emptying, and it seems to fill up too fast -- MY problem, not that of the dehumifier and I suppose that means it is working very well. It is QUIET, which is a blessing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Replacement My old dehumidifier died during the hottest period of the 2012 summer. No one had any units in stock that were worth anything. So I ordered this unit on-line and had to wait 7 days since it was being shipped from CA and it happened to be over the 4th of July weekend. So I had to wait longer than I wanted too but it turned out to be well worth the wait. I plugged the dehumidifier in and ran it straight on high for about 10 days. We had 100% humidity and high 90 degree days. My basement smelled before the unit came in since I had not run a dehumidifier for approximately 7 days. I was taking two buckets of water out a day. After 10 days, I turned the unit to the lower speed and used the humidity setting so the unit would not run 24/7. Great product love the look and operations. Very quiet and does not seem to produce as much "by-product" heat as my old unit. I would recommend this product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to set up and maintain After a very wet spring we had a lot of moisture in the basement. We purchased this dehumidifier and it works great for a smaller space. It's easy to set up and you can let it run continually when you drain it at the basement drain. It works well in individual rooms, too. It's easy to care for, has a washable filter and the tank is just the right size to carry comfortably to the sink when full. It has really helped to reduce the humidity in our house and as a result we don't need to use the air conditioning as much.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Under Powered Runs quiet, easy setup, nice design (would be nice if wheels would lock). However, has been running continuously even with fan set to "turbo" in a exceptionally dry 2500 sq ft basement for the first 11 days to lower the relative humidity near the unit by 18%. At 450w, that's about 325 Kw Hr / Month or roughly $45/mo for power. In I am hoping that in a few more days it will reach 50% near the unit and take some breaks. Humidity at the far end has only been lowered by about 6%. Unit is advertized at 40pint suitable for 2500-3500 sq ft. So far, I would say it is underpowered.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Energy Star 40 Pint Portable Dehumidifier I am really pleased with my purchase of the Energy Star 40 Pint Portable Dehumidifier. It has the two main features that I was looking for... performance and quietness. With the recent run of unusually rainy weather in my state, my one dehumidifier needed help. I am so pleased with the performance... it has really made a big difference in my home's humidity comfort level. A big PLUS is that it is super quiet compared to my other unit, an older name brand. I cannot find fault with this unit, in fact, I am so pleased, that at the completion of this review, I will be placing an order for an additional Energy Star 40 Pint Portable Dehumidifier as a replacement of my older unit.
