Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 42 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Under Powered Runs quiet, easy setup, nice design (would be nice if wheels would lock). However, has been running continuously even with fan set to "turbo" in a exceptionally dry 2500 sq ft basement for the first 11 days to lower the relative humidity near the unit by 18%. At 450w, that's about 325 Kw Hr / Month or roughly $45/mo for power. In I am hoping that in a few more days it will reach 50% near the unit and take some breaks. Humidity at the far end has only been lowered by about 6%. Unit is advertized at 40pint suitable for 2500-3500 sq ft. So far, I would say it is underpowered. June 25, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Energy Star 40 Pint Portable Dehumidifier I am really pleased with my purchase of the Energy Star 40 Pint Portable Dehumidifier. It has the two main features that I was looking for... performance and quietness. With the recent run of unusually rainy weather in my state, my one dehumidifier needed help. I am so pleased with the performance... it has really made a big difference in my home's humidity comfort level. A big PLUS is that it is super quiet compared to my other unit, an older name brand. I cannot find fault with this unit, in fact, I am so pleased, that at the completion of this review, I will be placing an order for an additional Energy Star 40 Pint Portable Dehumidifier as a replacement of my older unit. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A very worthwhile buy I have had my Whynter dehumidifier for about two weeks and am very pleased with it. In just two hours after plugging it in, my basement air was dry. I have a 20 ft wide town house, so the basement is rather large and I think it does a very good job of keeping everything dry. I've gone through two dehumidifiers of different makes; they don't seem to last more than 2-3 years. So I'll be interested to see how this one does. The instructions are very clear and I found it easy/simple to operate. So far I am very happy with this machine. July 2, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful Product This is a great dehumidifier! It doesn't assume too much space and not too loud. It works really well and I prefer it over the LG that I purchased a couple of years ago. I love the fact that it will draw moisture until the bucket is full or it can be set for a predetermined amount of desired / undesired humidity. I am sooo glad to have the musty odor from our raised ranch lower level. it's reservoir is small, but dumping the water 2-3 x / day is ok ... my outdoor flower beds are grateful. I highly recommend this dehumidfier... It may be small but it certainly works really well. I don't use the hose since I move it around btwn laundry rm and lower level of our raised ranch. I think it is a great little machine... pleased with my choice.. so glad I did the research. July 17, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to set up and maintain After a very wet spring we had a lot of moisture in the basement. We purchased this dehumidifier and it works great for a smaller space. It's easy to set up and you can let it run continually when you drain it at the basement drain. It works well in individual rooms, too. It's easy to care for, has a washable filter and the tank is just the right size to carry comfortably to the sink when full. It has really helped to reduce the humidity in our house and as a result we don't need to use the air conditioning as much. July 23, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Unit works well with one major issue My dehumidifier works well with one major issue – The water bucket used to fill up rather quickly despite having connected a drain hose to the side outlet. I called customer service to discuss my problem and was asked if my basement floor is level… I finally solved the problem by elevating the left side of the unit using a piece of wood. Now my dehumidifier sits slanted but finally drains correctly through the side drain hose. May 24, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Emergency too humid. One day I noticed my bamboo flooring lifting. I had a speed bump in my living room! I ordered this dehumidifier to help remove excess humidity in the house. It came exactly when promised and worked like a Trojan removing vast amounts of water from the air. It is a quiet machine, easy to empty and pleasant to look at. I have been using this dehumidifier for the past month with no problems. January 7, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Satisfied Product was shipped promptly. Product works to my satisfaction. The literature is confusing when it comes to fan operation. But in fact you can choose either continuous FAN operation or only on during the compressor cycle - which is what I wanted. Of course it makes noise when the fan is on but not that bad. The dry air comes out the side. If i would have designed it the air would have come out the front . January 2, 2014
