Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by 2Humid Good when it worked
I bought this unit in December of 2013. It worked well the first year and a half. Then I had to unplug it and plug it back in to make it work. Then it stopped working. The fan would run but the compressor gave out. Customer support was good at helping to figure out the problem. And they do offer repairs, but it has to be shipped to their facility in California. With the cost of shipping both ways and the cost of the repair, it made no sense to fix it. And I don't trust their quality now anyway. I'll just buy on a new one, though a different brand this time.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by dragga Effective in removing humidity
The unit is effective in removing excess humidity from the finished lower level, taking the damp feel and mildewy smell from the carpeting for the first time in many years. The unit is completely enclosed, making it suitable for placement in a furnished room. The electronic control pad is easy to use, and the digital display of current relative humidity level is informative. Water level float on front of container is useful in monitoring container fill level during operation.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 4coldweatherdogs Powerful and efficient
Have only had it about a week and it works perfectly in the basement. It runs quietly. We keep the house quite cool because we have cold weather dogs and the air conditioning contributes to the humidity. Because of our basement set up, we cannot use the auto drain. We have been running the dehumidifier on normal, set at 12 hr. intervals and the tank is full by the end of the 12 hrs. with the humidity in the 38-45 range. You can tell the difference immediately when the dehumidifier tank has been full for any length of time prior to our getting home to empty it. We have been very happy with it thus far. Have not had it long enough to know about its energy efficiency.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Uwaga Not that quiet
The product seems to work well, we are getting an amazing amount of water but it does not seem all that quiet to me. My wife assures me that compared to her parent's 20 year old unit it is quiet, but it is not so quiet that you could sit next to it, watch TV and talk on the phone as one other reviewer said. It would also be nice if the hose were longer, the only place in a basement with a drain is the furnace room, but you are not supposed to put it there.
While I would recommend it, be advised that there might be quieter ones with longer hoses and clearer directions.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by IAmTheJudgeOfNoOne So far, so dry!
I bought this for a house I am buying that has been vacant for 8 months and had some mold on a wall and some moisture in the concrete. I hooked this thing up and filled the reservoir within 2 hours! The hose that comes with it seems like it is only a foot long (not long enough) so i hooked up a garden hose to it, set the humidity level and let it do its work. I could smell the difference the next day and just got better each day. No moisture in the basement at all after just a few days. I have only had it for about a month, we will see how long it lasts...

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MaxinCS Fantastic!
This dehumidifier does everything I was hoping for. I switched from turbo to normal fan mode and it's still pulling up to 3 gallons of moisture (a day). It has lowered the humidity in our basement by 15% or more (depending on the actual weather conditions outside).
It's sturdy, well built and the catch basin is easy to empty (if you opt to not use a hose). The included hose is short and skimpy but you can always make a short section from that old garden hose you have laying around (combined with a fitting you can find in the hose section of HD).

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Dancel Quiet & does a good job
This dehumidifier does an excellent job - the space is large so I have another brand also working in the other end of the room - but it hardly ever comes on now. The area is below our bedroom & the sound of the other one would often keep me awake - the Whynter is right under our bed yet can barely be heard. Wonderful! It does run most of the time and sometimes the air coming out is very warm, but those are minor issues. We expect the electric bill to be less than when the other 2 (other brand) were in use & going constantly & emitting hot air.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by ArtK Quiet operation. Appears to be very efficient as well as it doesn't take that long to fill the bucket.
So far, so good. The unit is placed in the basement and it didn't take that long for the typical "musty" basement smell to go away.
The only thing I am hesitant about is the handle on the bucket itself. It doesn't appear, to me at least, to be robust enough to handle the weight of a full bucket of water. It has not broke off yet, but I do take care to carry the full bucket with one hand under the bucket for added support. Like I said, so far the unit is working as it should, so up to now, we are very pleased with it.
