I bought this product for my Ice House. Like other reviews stated the Heater showed up damaged!!! It's extent was only bent sheet metal that I was able to straighten out but if it would have been on the cover It would have been an eye sour. The heater performs very well and is very efficient. I did the LP conversion for it and they did not explain in the instructions that there would be an extra piece for a different pilot burner left over which drove me mad!!! All in all I am very happy with the unit and would buy it again.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Keats I would recomend this heater
First off Williams does a poor job of packaging, the cabinet is right on top with no protection, be sure to check for damage! If you convert this heater to LP gas you drop down to 10,000 BTU, they state this in the conversion kit inst. ONLY. The template for the hole it came out a little low, but made it work. The thermostat works good they tell you where the Wht+Red wire go, but not on the unit, I put the Wht wire on the top empty post. I wish Williams would do a better job of packaging cause this is a good little unit.Hope this helps you out GL Tom

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nick Fairly easy install
Went in east enough, turned right on.
Had to mess with the gas knob though to get it to light.
Worst part was the break in smell; odor was like a chemical factory for a day plus. Run it for a day with all doors open.
Afterwards, works like a charm, heats more space than it says it will.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by TheCake Good product, easy installation, but it's noisy
This is a good product, works well, installed pretty easily. I don't have the fan option, which forces room air thru the unit to distribute the heat faster/evenly. But even without the fan the convection action of the heat (hot air rising) still actually makes quite a breeze coming out of the top. And it's HOT! It works very well in regards to heating the room air, even despite the fact that it does so with a heat exchanger (the flame doesn't come in contact with room air, only the outside air is heated, and the heat in that air is coupled to the room air without direct contact using a radiator inside the unit. In this way no combustion gasses like carbon monoxide or carbon dioxide will be generated inside the room, they are all exhausted to the outside). Also make sure to close the doors and windows so that as the heat slowly comes down from the ceiling it doesn't go out the top of an open door way. If you have a ceiling fan that will help distribute the heat faster.
Note that the first time you turn it on it will burn off the oily film that's on the metal surfaces, and it makes quite a smell. I even wiped it down with alcohol first, but it still made quite a stink. Open the windows and let it run for a couple of hours.
The only real gripe I have about it is that it's really noisy when it turns off. It clangs and bangs as the metal cools and shrinks, much like your car does after you turn it off, only much louder. The instructions say this problem could be due to being mounted to a slightly bowed wall (I'm assuming this means that the metal structure is being stressed and pulled by the mounting hardware, so that when the metal expands or shrinks thru heating cycles it tends to pop in and out of shape). I'm an engineer and have tried everything to stop the noise, at one point making it virtually "float", making sure the mounting hardware wasn't pulling it this way or that. I even loosened the mounting of the vent to the outside of the house to make sure that wasn't pushing or pulling it. But alas, it still clicks and bangs loudly when cooling, but luckily it isn't as loud when heating up. I haven't given up trying to calm this noise, but I took back the first one thinking it was faulty and this second one has the same issue so I can only assume it's not loud because it's broken. On top of all that, I replaced the drywall in this area before the install to get rid of a poor previous patch, so everything behind the heater is new and flat. I got a good deal on it because it was (is?) being discontinued, and got it for far less than the normal price. I'm OK with the noise only because it was such a deal.
If I find the solution to this noise, I'll report back. I haven't read about any other major noise issues, so maybe it still is my walls that are somehow to blame. After all the experiments I've done I can't see how, but I'm still open.
If there were no noise or even only the slight ticking of expanding/contracting metal that one might expect from a heater, then I would have given this heater an Excellent A+++ rating.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Chopwood Easy install, good product
I had read some reviews on the furnace before buying. Mine came in with no damage and a good thermostat. I use it to heat a 220 square foot insulated shop in the back of my garage, it is perfect. So far my energy usage is 1/2 of what it was with an electric heater. The furnace will pay for itself this winter. I live in northern NY, it is cold from October to May.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by WilliamsFurnaceNo Williams Customer Service is Terrible
I opened the box and the furnace was damaged. Had to bend it back into shape because I didn't want to return it. The directions are not clear so I called Williams Customer Service and they were incredibly rude. The message that I got from them is that if I'm not a "qualified installer", then they don't have the time of day to answer my questions. Every answer they gave to my question was, well...if you were a qualified installer you would know this. I stated that HD sells to homeowners, so shouldn't they expect homeowners to have questions? Their answer - we fully advise homeowners to get a qualified installer to put this in. Okay, I get it - Williams doesn't want to deal with homeowners. If I weren't almost done with the project, I would choose a better company to support with my money.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fred purchace was a perfect choice
I had to replace a 20 year direct vent natural gas wall furnace, in a hurry, in an apartment rental and this one was perfect. It fit the space perfectly without any alteration; great looking; great quality; looks nicer installed than the old one and installed easily and inexpensively by a professional in a little over an hour. A great feature if the power goes out, it will continue to function. It's perfect for an apartment and compared to other heaters is very reasonably priced. Home Depot shipped it immediately and I received it before they said I would.
