Answer:
The more expensive model is propane, the less expensive is natural gas. I believe that to be the major difference (the heat output difference is also related to the gas type.) Otherwise the specs are nearly identical on the Home Depot comparison chart (size, weight, etc.) For proper operation, you'll need to match the heater to the type of gas you'll be using.

Answer:
Probably not; that type of installation isn't shown in the instructions. But Williams customer service should be able to tell you definitively (888) 256-6465.

22,000 BTU/Hr Direct-Vent Furnace LP Gas with Wall or Cabinet-Mounted Thermostat Heater is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from mostly trouble free The product arrived with very little damage and it operates as expected. The biggest issue with this product was that the brackets on the back, meant for mounting to the wall and also meant to be used to hold the outer housing in place, were welded onto the heater backward. This caused the outer housing to not sit on the heater in the appropriate way, which I dealt with by sliding the edge of the housing behind the brackets (it actually sits on the screws that are going through the brackets to hold them to the wall - I could see no other way to do it). An amateur and unfortunate oversight by the assemblers.

I purchased 3 wall furnaces from Williams and 2 out of the 3 have ignition/pilot light issues. The other one had a slight dent on it because they do not package them well. The thermostat they include is very cheaply made so I recommend upgrading that to something different. The one that actually works throws out a nice quick heat even without the fan option. If it weren't for the issues with the ignition and pilot I would definitely have given a better review. I see a lot of other people having similar issues on these reviews so I'd look for another product even if it costs a bit more.

Heater itself is a bit inefficient without additional fan purchase. It was received with a broken thermostat. A replacement thermostat could not be found in-store and required on-line order which left us without heat for an additional week. Once your get over the aggravation of installing and if you are in that niche market for a non-electric direct vent propane unit, this heater works - if you stand right in front of it while it's on.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Heater This is a great heater. The install instructions are a bit hard to follow and the thermostat that came with it didn't work. It's cheap anyway and I picked up a $25 Honeywell digital which does the job. It's heats out small house ok. Our house has some insulating issues and it would probably be even more efficient if those were rectified. Over all this has been a great investment and much safer than a ventless heater. Also the blower is a nice accessory and well worth the money as an add on.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Williams 22k BTU Installed two of these in new building; install was easy, quality is good, heat up right away. Customer support provided parts on two occasions for one unit--really cooperative in covering us there, though it turned out we had an install error on the one unit that created problems that were mis diagnosed until we found our mistake. Williams supported us, which is very nice to know. Heat up terrific; think we are going to love these.
