This furnace requires a 50 amp breaker and 6 awg wire, but does it require 6-2 with two conductors and a ground or 6-3 with two conductors and a neutral? This furnace has a fan which I assumed would require a neutral wire.

Answer:
Just installed my unit yesterday. 6/2 w/Ground Romex wire, to a dedicated 50AMP breaker. I even called the manufacturer to confirm.

Answer:
You can use a 6-2 wire or 6-3 wire, with the 6-3 you just won't use the ground and it will be tougher since it has less flexibility than 6-2

I received this item and just installed it. I wanted to update that it does require 6-2 wiring that is 6 awg and a 50 amp breaker.
It only has terminals for two hots and a ground.

Answer:
Hello Stdy, I’m Chris from the Home Depot’s how-to Community. Thank you for your question.
Looking at the installation manual, the electrical hook-up shows 2 hots and a center neutral that they mark as a “ground”. Since that center terminal needs to be 6 gauge, I would use 6-3 wire.
I hope this helps,
Chris.

This heats my 30' x 30' garage well, I would say not much more than 1000sf though.

Answer:
It has one setting, on and off :)
I use this in our garage and it works well and is reasonably quiet. The heat kicks on whenever the thermostat calls for it, but it doesn't modulate from low, medium to high.

To answer my own question, the unit does not have adjustable heat settings. Pending on where you place this unit, it does make the fan noise as the fan has one speed. It's not terrible but it's worth a little noise vs no heat.

No. There is a fan that draws room air in and back out over heating coils.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good buy easy to put together looks good on my wall in my cabin September 6, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by VERY impressed with the unit. I installed my unit yesterday. It was purchased for an icebox of a basement Movie/Man Room in which my wife & kids refused to enjoy, since it was always so cold. (I know.... That might be considered a good thing). Anyway... The basement is a little over 1,600 SF, of open space, fully carpeted, insulated sheet rock walls with around 85% drop ceiling tiles. Basic freestanding heaters were useless in the space. I was concerned this heater would also not heat a room of that size, but decided to take a chance. Boy was I wrong.... I installed the provided thermostat on an inside wall at a distance of about 18' from the unit, & set the sucker to 75. Within less than 6 minutes, the room was nice & toasty. The WHOLE room...!!! My wife & kids even asked me to turn it down cause it was so warm. (I got heat happy). The fan noise is low to moderate. Since it's on for such a short time to warm the space, it's a non issue. With surround sound playing, you wont even know when it's on. I had planned to recess it, but decided to surface mount it when I saw how thin it was. I didn't think it was worth the effort to recess. I'd absolutely recommend this unit to anyone. I only wish is was a little less expensive.. Otherwise... 5 Stars!! February 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product......so far I just receievd this heater 3 days ago and have it installed in under an hour. I used a pre-ran 8-2 wire and it worked just fine. The only issue was the bery cheap thermostat that came with ot is defective, i didnt mind because i intended to install a programmable thermostat anyway, i however made the company send me a new one (because I paid for a full equipment). The heater has been phenomenal so far heating a 1000sq. ft. The fan is a little loud but not that bad. Overall, the heater is a great product and I'll recommend it. December 31, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent electric heater for a garage I recently purchased this heater to be installed in our oversized 2 car garage. After a lot of back and forth thinking about propane or electric, it seemed like this unit and electric were the perfect fit. We have some workout equipment in our garage and often myself or wife are working on home projects out there. The installation of the unit into the wall was fairly straightforward. I wanted to do the recessed mount for a more sleek clean look and to save a pinch of space. My electrician wired up the unit with 6-3 wire and without a hitch, although as some have mentioned it is a pretty tight space to make that turn for the wire. I opted to install a wifi programmable thermostat so we can turn off/on when we want to turn it up. So far we are extremely happy with this heater, it isn't cold here in Massachusetts yet but in 40 minutes of running it brought our 30' x 30' Garage with 10' ceilings from 50 degrees to 60 degrees during the trial run. Will report back on energy usage, but with municipal electric in our town our KwH is very low so it should be reasonable to keep our garage warm. December 19, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by surface mount and it works well. No wall cavity required. I placed this in a two bedroom mountain cabin that up until now I heated with wood, but a lender wanted an automatic source of heat that could function with no one there. It did a great job what little I have used it in May when I put it in. With no natural gas available here and the price of propane so high and volatile, it was a great choice. I ran 6-2 NM stranded romex and the wire to the unit (top) that was a bit big for the screw terminals that seemed better suited to 8-2 or even 10-2 romex with solid copper wire. The unit is set up for two hot wires and a ground. No Common (white) or neutral wire terminal. Has a two wire remote thermostat that comes with it and required to operate unit. Heat comes out the bottom, I could feel 10-12' away if I stood still.. May 20, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Had to return Came damaged (dented). Electrician had to tighten loose wires to get working. Stopped heating after 1 time, only blowing cold air. On phone and email with Williams a few times. Electrician identified bad components, but why should I start replacing parts on a new unit. Home Depot took return as they always do. January 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Williams wall furnace The first time we ordered the heater it came very fast got it in two days. But it did have some damage but not enough to worry with but the fan and the thermistat didn't work so I took it back it was the run around trying to get my other one order. They kept messing up and was trying to make me pay 100 dollars more than what I payed in the first place. One I did get it order again after 4 different attempts . It came very fast again but was pretty bad damaged in the front and top but It wasn't worth the struggle it did work and it works very well but wasn't to pleased with everything else. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Williams Heater The elect furnace arrived at HD in great shape with no dents etc. It would not fit between my studs due to my wall studs being saw milled full size 2x4 inches. This will fit newer homes with standard width studs. I had to repair the wall where it was cut out and surface mount it. It's not that cold at the present so I can't rate how well it heats. The fan is a little louder than I would want it. But it will probably only run when we are away. I did have a question to customer service at Williams concerning the thermostat location that went pleasantly smooth and they were very helpful. September 29, 2015
