Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Dayo Great purchase- warms my heart, my toes and didn't burn up my checkbook balance!
My previous wall furnace was already hooked up to a chimney for venting, so it only took a few minutes to undo the previous gas line to pull out the old, and this new one was the exact same measurements and looked to be nearly identical in every way, so reinstall was a snap for my brother.
It took him an hour and a half to put this in, and because of newer connections when I got a whole house furnace handling the upstairs of my house a few years ago, they put in the venting at that time so, I did not need any extra parts as some stated they had to get for a complete connection and to get it up and running. That was a priority to check out since so many complained of that issue...so install day went well with that knowledge.
Its been in for a month now, and all seems to be working perfectly...and I hope it continues that way. The other it replaced was there for 35 years, and my brother said this one is actually made from better materials in the combustion chamber area. And I love the thermostat instead of having to crawl around on the floor to adjust the temp, just using the wall thermostat was a huge upgrade!

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by cheryl great product but beware...
... home depot does not carry all the required parts needed to make it work for propane use and venting. Once we finally tracked down suppliers for the necessary gas to propane conversion kit & vent kit it worked great. The only other problem was fitting the cover on after mounting flush to the wall instead of partially recessed into the wall. The grate won't go on without yet another necessary conversion kit. Great product, works very well for heat, but there are too many conversion kits needed to actually make it work that home depot doesn't carry for this specific model. In the end we spent a lot more money on kits than the actual heater. Poor advertising home depot.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by OnlineShopper Excellent Replacement for Older Model
Successfully replaced a much older model, with a bit of flue modification. Contractor said this was just a tiny bit bigger, but mostly fit right into the space, with higher quality parts. Still works without electricity, which is important on an island where we lose power frequently. A good value for our rental cottage. Used in-store pick-up. Process was well-organized and staff friendly at the W Seattle Home Depot. Thanks for making our furnace replacement manageable and cost-efficient!

We own a seasonal summer cottage in Minnesota. We shut it down for the winter. I shopped around and bought this one to replace the old wall furnace of similar dimensions. To heat the place (800 sq. ft.) on cool autumn days & nights, it does a fine job so far. It has to be alot more energy efficient than the 50 yr old unit, right? How long it holds up remains to be seen (planned obsolescence?) I bought the blower accessory too, which is noisier than I had hoped, and underpowered compared to my last furnace. I place a portable fan nearby to move air more forcefully. The installer said it was not difficult to work with including lp conversion. I also bought a thru the wall fan which I'm very happy with too, and is in the photo (if it uploads). There was a manufacturing dent on the access panel which I was able to easily fix. I had a problem finding attic vent pipe. Home Depot does not offer it. I found Amerivent brand type B vent pipe at another home center via special order. Summary; so far, I'm happy, but longevity remains to be seen. I'll report back in a few years.

This wall furnace succeeded its predecessor. OUTSTANDING product. Monterrey Wall Furnaces do what they say and are "there for the long haul." The old one came out and the new one went in with existing hardware/venting/thermostat and didn't miss a beat. The old furnace lasted over 20 years and only had to be replaced because of obsolete parts. This one will "replicate that feat" I am sure.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Rick Only works when I press the vent limit switch
I just bought last week and the day it was installed it worked the first time I turned the heat up to about 75 deg. Ever since, I have to press the vent limit switch in order to get it to turn on. It seems something is broken or not working properly from the first day I started it up. I replaced the thermostat with a nice programmable Honeywell to see if that would help, but same issue. I have to press the vent limit switch in order to get it started. Pilot light is fine, just won't heat up until vent limit switch is pressed. Don't know what to do except pay contractor who I paid to install it to now uninstall it and return it. That or see if PG&E will take a look at it.

It was easy to install and heated very well! Thermostat included. No power needed, just gas! You could even turn your gas off when your away, to save even more! Easy re-light button, not that it is needed if you did not turn it off yourself. Just remember, unless you already have the exhaust parts, make sure to buy the Williams 5" exhaust starter kit ($110.00) and some double wall round pipe($15.00) to match your transition piece included in the kit. Especially if you are extending more than 4 feet with the exhaust. I always use double wall for safety even though this is natural flow. Do not forget your roof vent cap, extra trip ;) Thermostat wire is only about 4 feet worth in the kit, i would buy more thermostat wire since you should be putting the thermostat in a central location anyway . They had the old version of this unit that had to be plugged in the wall, it lasted 15 years, probably longer if they had maintained the unit and exhaust better.
