Measured at 70 db at 1 meter, in the category of sones 3 in a bathroom fan. As oppose to the 2901, this unit has 1 speed. Relatively easy to install as long as there an outlet nearby. Instructions could use some more pictures but nothing a DIYer cannot handle. Pamphlet says to require <3 amps to operate, I measured running consumption of 49 watts. Blower sucks air on top and expels front. I notice my old furnace has a deeper yellow color, probably due to age, so if you are adding this to your old furnace, the color may not exactly match. Due to noise requirement, I am going the route of a ceiling fan instead.
