All our furnaces can be operated at high elevations with a high altitude kit. Hamilton customer service reps review each order placed and contact customers prior to shipping to verify sizing, application, recommend addition items that might be needed, and to answer other questions that you might have.

I wish to put this furnace in new construction with access from the garage to a furnace closet (for lack of a better term). What should be the size of the space to place the furnace in? what kind of clearance all around should be divided? i plan to vent through the top and put the heated air through the bottom into duct work in a crawl space that would distribute it throughout the house. is this possible?

Please have a look at Page 4 of the installation manual for information regarding the clearances required for the furnace at this link: http://www.homedepot.com/catalog/pdfImages/65/65089042-ceec-482c-b5ce-4671b05be12c.pdf

Installing the furnace as a 2-pipe system, one for venting and the other for combustion air, will allow the furnace to be installed in the smallest space. Since this is a multi-positional design, and you'll be installing as a downflow, the vent pipe will actually go through either the right or left side and then 90° elbow upward. This will require a little more clearance than a dedicated downflow furnace. If you'd like us to verify the BTU size of the furnace and recommend a dedicated downflow furnace that we have available online, please give us a call at 800-879-0123.
Be sure that the furnace is properly sized for your heating application, and that the location of the furnace will have an ambient temperature above 32°F, also specified on Page 4 of installation manual. Read Less

Answer:
Keep in mind, noise is relative, however, when the equipment is sized appropriately and the duct work is matched to handle the volume of air flow, the furnace does operate quietly. Gaskets are provided to seal the PVC vent and combustion air , and weatherstripping is factory installed around both doors.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 5 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Solid performance difficult installation The installation of the product is not something to be taken lightly. expecially if you are using downdrafting for your ventilation. This is a selling feature of the product over the typical stack mounted venting systems but it creates water as a byproduct. There isn't one but two water exhaust's on this machine and one requires a pump to move the water upstream. This isn't stated in any documentation I've seen. This all being said the fuel use is excellent and the heating ability once the system quirks were figured out is quite good. I would recomend this if you are exceptionally handy. If not get an installer who knows this type of system or you'll have allot of callbacks. January 15, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Happy Camper Ordered the 120K unit. The company rep called me and reviewed my needs. Changed to 100K unit. Purchased the LP gas conversion unit. I wanted to install it myself. I read through all the instructions several times, and had a licensed installer review everything I did. I not sure if he was surprised how good the instructions were, or if he was shocked by how closely I followed them, but everything went great. Changing from natural gas to LP was not a problem. I even bought a manometer to keep an eye on the LP gas pressure since I've never used LP before. The furnace worked the first time it was turned on. I purchased it in Oct, but family health issues delayed the installation. It went into service on 12/21/12 it has kept us nice and warm. It had a cosmetic dent from shipping, but I just straightened it out. February 4, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This is a great furnace! This was a great replacement of my old lennox. It is a nice compact size. It was a pretty simple installation overall. I converted mine to LP which does require a manometer to set the gas valve pressure. The instructions were very detailed. It is very light, I think it weighed 70 pounds on the pallet. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This product is well built. Also compact for what it rated to put out. Works well doesn't take long to heat up an 1800 sq. ft. garage. October 15, 2013
