Rated 4 out of 5 by from The product was easy to install. The product works great and was a breeze to install. The quick connect lines work great and saved me from having to get an hoax technician come pump down and charge the ac.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great system to save $$$ I purchased one of these Winchester units in 2001, installed it myself and it's still running like a champ 14 years later. I did my unit for under $900 at the time, when the cheapest H/C contractor quote was over $3500. I had a contractor check the pressures after the install, just to make sure it was correct to avoid damaging it ($110/service charge for him). The contractor said the charge was at the correct pressure, but tried talking the system down right afterwards and saying it wouldn't last (tried selling me one of his systems for when my fails). Well here I am, 14 years later and my do-it-yourselfer system is still running strong with zero maintenance! You do have to be pretty handy and technically you do need to pull a permit in most areas (need it for just about everything these days, even adding an outlet to your garage or installing a water line for an ice maker - just the way it is now). Doesn't mean that people still don't do these things themselves without a permit and most city inspectors don't care what you do with your own home (some of this little stuff is a hassle for them). The fact is, this is a great little system that allows a skilled do-it-yourselfer to invest a weekend and save thousands! Greg

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Need a permit! So I thought this was the cheap route to get a working a/c in my house, I didn't know this doesn't come with a blower. Instructions are fair and easy to understand, however, come to find out I need a PERMIT and I don't have a license to install this unit so when I tried to get a Permit I was rejected. Leave it to the pros. This is not a do-it-your-self project. I'm still having problems with inspection department because I'm trying to sell my home, I have since hired an Heating and Air company to get it right and after purchasing this unit and the bills for the company to get it right, it would have been cheaper for them to install a brand new Train (we had quotes). This was a bad choice.
