A furnace installation is not really a weekend DIY project. I would suggest that you consult with a HVAC contractor.

What is a multi-positional gas furnace. I live in Mexico and need a liquid propane furnace.

Asked by: Skip
Can be installed upright or on its side. You must install a conversion kit they sell, to use it with propane. it has different jets and a regulator spring. We converted , not that hard

I'm putting this furnace in the attic, and im running all new duct work. what duct style is insulated and easy to install

its an older 1930s house, and my basement is to wet to put it down there, i need all new duct work and electrical wired in, i also have an existing air conditioner i would like to have hooked up to
Asked by: lyn
First, I have to advise you that installation of a complete HVAC system, especially when you are changing location of the furnace is NOT a do-it-yourself job, including the ductwork, electrical and AC. This must not be attempted by anyone but a licensed HVAC contractor. The potential for disaster, both injury and damage, is far to great for a DIY job. In addition, virtually all jurisdictions require building permits for this sort of work. That said, when it comes to ducting, you basically have two choices: sheet metal, with or without outside fiberglass insulation wrap or fiberglass duct board wrapped on the outside with aluminum foil. While the fiberglass duct board initially came on the market with great fanfare, it has lost favor with some HVAC people and homeowners. Duct board is generally easier to work with and safer to fabricate than sheet metal - no cuts from sharp edges. However, the interior of the duct board ducts are rougher than sheet steel which restricts air flow, making them less efficient and more difficult to clean later on. In addition, duct board ducts may not be as durable and long lasting as sheet metal ducts, depending on fabrication and installation methods used. However, these are subjects to be discussed with your HVAC contractor.

60,000 BTU 95.5% Multi-Positional Gas Furnace is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 6.

I was also happy with the installation manual. However, the unit was badly dented during shipping. I debated sending it back, but decided to keep the unit because of the time frame involved in returning the furnace. Plus, the dented side faces the wall. I should add that the damage was not visible in the crate, I only noticed the damage after opening the shrink wrap/box. (I did not contact Home Depot about the damage)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good furnace This is my first night with the furnace running. So far, so good. Decided to install it myself with the help of my wife's very knowledgeable grandfather. I don't have natural gas where I live so I had to buy the LP conversion kit. It was easy to convert to LP and installation was easy (since we were replacing an older 80% eff. so all the duct work and plenum was already there. Just had to fabricate a base for it and then hook up the electric, gas line, and thermostat. The trickiest part of the whole setup was fine tuning the gas pressures at the inlet and manifold. But, after a few tries we got it to the correct spec. Pros: Fairly easy to follow installation instructions Free home shipping Seems like a quality piece of equipment Cons: No filter rack included so we had to fabricate one A but pricey but not bad for a 95.5% efficiency

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great furnace, great price I am a handy person and have worked with gas lines, electrical, plumbing etc. which made this installation much easier. The furnace installation went smoothly and was far cheaper than having someone else do it. A nice bonus was the online warranty registration which once completed, added an additional 5 years to the parts warranty. I would purchase again in a heartbeat. Furnace is well constructed and runs quietly. I am looking forward to years of service from this unit. Cons: Installation manual is unclear at times...thank goodness this furnace is exactly like almost every other single stage furnace out there...thanks YouTube people for helpful videos which filled in the blanks. One other minor issue was that the sealant weatherstripping on the cabinet door was slightly torn and mis-applied. Some careful removal and re-application did the trick. Someone was in a hurry I guess. Home Depot did a nice job with text/email notification along the way. It was a great experience. Thanks J

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Overall very good experience despite damaged cabinet. Ours is a simple single stage installation. Furnace appears to be of high quality workmanship and manufacture. Has other good reviews. New installation so cannot comment on efficiency. Easy to install.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from works great, design and installation issues though Poor directions (I had to look up online to find better directions even though. I had an ex HVAC worker install it for me). The furnace brings air in from the bottom, which means if you mount this upright, you have to put a table under it and then cut a hole in the table for air intake. Also, I had to make my own filter frame to attach to the bottom of the table since the furnace didn't have a way to attach (and then readily replace) a filter directly on the furnace. Now that it's installed though, it runs great and I love it.
