Customer Questions & Answers

What does "swedged" mean?

Does "swedged" mean that one end is tapered so that multiple 5' lengths can be connected together?
Asked by: Leroy
One end is reduced diameter to allow another piece of pipe to be inserted.. This is much sturdier than simply coupling them together..

Can this be used with the Winegard J pipe model# DS-3000? Can this also be used with the Antenna's Direct 40 in antenna J-mount model # STM1000?

I have the Antenna Direct model and realized that I need a longer pipe. So, I'm wondering if it will fit this one or do I need to buy another one and if so, was wondering if the Winegard one is the one I need to get??
Asked by: Susan
Susan I would contact Winegard now that I have reread your question.. I used a tripod which is a different method but very sturdy if done correctly..

How do I connect 4 of these together to build a 20ft mast?
Asked by: Xucaen
Yes as one end is sweged however if you go 10' or more you should use guy wires.. Personally If I were to go 20' feet I would want something quite rigid and well supported with at least 2 sets or guy wires..

Will this work with an electronic rotor?

Am putting up a 100 mile antenna and rotor. Will this mast work with a rotor?
Asked by: fredrod01
Yes but you would need 2 pieces of pipe to do this or cut this pipe into 2 pieces.. I found I get plenty of channels without a rotor.. I suggest you try this 1st then add rotor if needed..

5 ft. Sweged Masting for Outdoor Antenna is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 33.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stood up to a bad storm When I decided to cut the cord on cable, I had to find a new TV source. I decided to just watch broadcast TV. I live in an area facing a fair sized hill. All the local stations transmit from the other side, so, the hill blocks reception. I had to raise an antenna above the roof. I ordered this antenna mast from Home Depot. I needed 4 sections. They slid together quite easily and fit securely. I doubt I will ever get them to come apart should I ever need to disassemble them. The material is pretty strong. We just had a major storm with some really strong winds, 70 mph or so. My antenna still stands tall on a nice straight pole. Highly satisfied.

I have Directv but they only give you the local channels for your nearest large city (in my case NYC) but I live in CT. So I purchased an HD Antennae with an A/B switch whenever I want to check local news or weather etc... This masting is definitely solid enough but it didn't fit my antennae. It's not the easiest thing to find antennae parts so I modified it to accept my antennae. It's been up for a while and on different days I get different channels - very strange - but through it all with some wicked storms it's still up there sold as a rock.

As advertised it is suppose to match the J Pipe but it is NOT coated the same (Gray) as the matching mount. In addition, it is 1.25 in diameter and the J pipe is 1.66 so best bolt it together to keep it from moving and shifting. I was disappointed that Home Depot recommends these two parts together and they do not match in color but still worked.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Buy at the store The product itself is solid, but I do not recommend that you have it shipped to the store. I am still cleaning off tape, labels, glue, etc from the the mast. They put so many shipping labels on it that are really hard to clean off. I think I'm up to around 6-7 of them, and that doesn't include the one from the actual manufacturer.
