Answer:
This package contains a pair of WingIts for the the installation of a grab bar, but there are four WingIt fasteners. Each pair is linked with a spacer to simplify the installation of a grab bar.
For my need, I required individual WingIts, but none of the stores stock them. I simply clipped the connectors and used the WingIts individually for my installation, and they worked perfectly.

For an official answer, I'd look to the manufacturer's website or instructions. In my personal opinion, the answer is a definitive NO. Unless specifically reinforced, as those with built-in bars are, they just aren't designed to handle the weight or force that one could place on a bar. I've been asked to install these in this fashion previously and I've refused for fear of what could happen if one put too much weight on it. Read Less

Answer:
Yes, I installed a Moen grab bar using this kit. Measure carefully before drilling, because the screw holes for mounting the grab bar are offset from the center of the holes that you drill for the fasteners.

Studless Install Grab Bar Fastener is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 40.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from These fasteners do work well I just installed a Moen grab bar that cost just a bit more than this fastener kit. As mentioned in other reviews, the screw holes (or screw shaft) of this fastener are offset from the center of the holes that you'll drill, so check your grab bar mounting holes and measure carefully before drilling. You'll need either a 3/4" drill bit (one is recommended on the package) or a 3/4" hole saw. I used a hole saw and it worked well. Also, decide exactly where you want the grab bar before applying the foam drilling template; it's almost impossible to remove without taking the paint off the wall if you try. You may need gloves to push the wings through the hole; it's a very tight fit. Finally, If you need help, go to www.wingits.com and watch the installation video. Note that Moen offers an installation kit that requires only one hole to be drilled per side, but it's much more expensive.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quick grab bar solution Seems to work good but be careful drilling holes in wall as the black base plate is off center and may not line up if yoy are using a bar with 3 holes only.

If you need to fasten something through a wall this is a wonderful gadget. I put up several grab bars in our tile bathrooms. It just took one widget on each end of the bar. The bar is rock solid even under heavy load, most probably more than it will ever encounter. The only thing I dislike is the fact that it requires drilling a fairly large hole in the tile to be able to push the widget thru. However, small price to pay for having the piece of mind it is very firmly attached. I would recommend the Widgets for any applications requiring to anchor a device that may have to bear a heavy load.

However the description of the product on the website did not indicate that this was a kit and that everything was included in one box. I thought I would need four kits because I saw that the there were 4 screws involved. I was able to return the other 3 kits and received a full refund. My wife and I have both used the grab bar and felt secure and supported. Great product that deserves a better description on your website.

This time could not get the WingIts into proper position, but could not extract them either. Next time, I'll use traditional toggle bolts: cheap, easy to install, almost always work. PS: whoever designed this web page with pale grey type on white background has no understanding of users' vision issues!

Very straight forward, but if you follow their instructions, you might struggle. One section says to peel backing at score mark, no score and didn't say which side toward wall. Second, the blue attachments have to "snap" into place inside the anchor. As for the hold, it does a very good job. No movement, very tight hold with grab bar.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from WingIts Fasterners I installed two bathroom grab bars in the shower area. On the first install the WingIts Fastener separated and fell inside the wall. I fixed the one side of the bar with a butterfly nut. The second install had no problems. The Apache drill bit worked well.

Directions do not tell it all. 3/4 inch cut out is not really large enough. Had to drive anchors in by hitting several times with a hammer. Not real fun to install but work great.
