These are measured about 1ft from the front of the air cleaner.
speed on high(turbo)=69db
speed on 3=63 db
speed on 2=54 db
speed on 1=<50 estimate 45 db
The lowest speed is very quiet, except there's a low level popping crackling noise which is caused by the Plasma wave device. It's just barely audible in the room, but if your within 2-3 feet you can hear it. I sit about this distance from it and

I would think at the maximum level it's like a small vacuum cleaner. But in regular mode, it's pretty quiet.

Answer:
Don't know the db. but you can't hear it on low (#1). #2 is drowned out by the tv. It's a pleasant background noise that you have to listen for. #3 louder but very effective at clearing out odors quickly. Turbo is as loud as other fans at their top setting. Turbo is great for a quick clean of the air at parties.

I don't have a db meter, and no noise specifications are given in the accompanying literature, however, at the low speed fan setting I cannot hear the fan even when I'm right next to the unit. The turbo fan setting is audible but I would characterize it as much quieter than a typical bathroom exhaust fan. My house is in the middle of a major renovation project, and still the unit stays at the lowest fan Read More

Answer:
I was also curious about this because the Plasmawave technology was new to me. I have a proprietary ozone detector I built for a project for my work. It did not detect any substantial amounts of ozone as compared with "normal ambient" air. I live in Los Angeles, so ozone levels are slightly higher than less congested areas. That said, I don't think this unit produces any significant amounts of ozone.

According to the manufacturer's instructions you change the carbon filters every 3 months. ie discard and replace. The HEPA filter can be washed every 6 months, and this can be done 6 times, for a total life of 3 years. This really saves money, as other air cleaners have you discard and replace the HEPA filters every 6 months to a year.
The replacements filters can be found at www.sylvane.com, size 21.

My unit shipped with a washable HEPA and extra carbon filters, these would be good for about a year.

Yes it does come with a remote control, although I've never used them (I have 3 of the units). It allows control functions like manual setting of the fan speed, but I just leave them in auto as they sense air quality and ramp fan speed up or down as needed.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent value Works very well, reduces dust in air and on shelves, also good price. June 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GREAT PRODUCT EASY TO SET UP, QUIET IN AUTO MODE, AIR QUALITY SO MUCH BETTER. I LEAVE ON AUTOMATIC IN MY DAUGHTERS ROOM. IF SOMEONE IN BATHROOM DOWN THE HALL SPRAYS HAIRSPRAY OR FRESHNER OR ANYTHING OR SOMEONE PASSES GAS THIS UNIT CLICKS ON A TURBO MODE AND CLEARS THE AIR. BOUGHT TWO OF THESE AND MY SISTER HAS NOW PURCHASED ONE. OUTSTANDING PRODUCT SO FAR May 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Amazingly efficient As much as I wanted to believe that a washable HEPA filter air filtering machine existed (at a reasonable price no less), I have been thrilled with the consistent performance of this one! Super quiet, detects impurities and removes them automatically, keeps everyday dust from settling on furniture by taking it from the air. It's tough on odors, though I can't honestly say it's completely eliminated our tough one (cigarette). At this price, I will invest in another unit for another room that likes to capture and hold air, rather than circulate. i highly recommend this air machine, especially if it's not your first machine. You will be very impressed! January 19, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Clean air! I wanted a air cleaner that would help control cat hair and the dust from the rock road we live on in the country. This one fills those needs so for. I did give it 4 stars due to it being a little loud but as for as working well it is doing the job for a reasonable price. I am always cost conscious and like that the filter is washable. I would recommend this product just remember you will have to turn the tv up a little more. July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A very good find! They (2) came packed very well, easy to get going as well as does a great job cleaning the air. It comes with a washable HEPA filter which will last for three years. Buying replacement HEPA filters might just cost the price of this unit after three years use. Try to find another washable HEPA filter that comes with the unit like this, for this price, is something you just cant find. Except perhaps if you double the price that is. Auto is great, it stays on low until it detects something and will ramp up accordingly. June 8, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by works great Ordering on line was very easy, and received quite quickly. Instructions were easy to follow. Just plug in and forget, no problems. May buy another for a different room. July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Allergies Allergies have been so bad this year I decided I need another air cleaner in the house. After reading reviews, I found this one on sale at Home Depot and decided to give it a try. I haven't bought a new air cleaner in over 10 years. I have been very happy with it, it sets in the living room and is so quiet,, we leave it on automatic and every know andt then it turns its self up (then you can hear it a little), I now spend more time in the lower half of the house without headaches or breathing problem. June 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Karen in Lake Hopatcong, NJ I opted for this air purifier to reduce the amount of dust that accumulates in my house. I set up 2 of these purifiers in my living room, dining room and kitchen combination (approx. 675 sq. ft.). They are working so well that I have not had to dust for 2 months when I used to dust every week and sometimes twice a week. I highly recommend these purifiers for this reason. July 5, 2016
