The bucket in this dehumidifier can be removed and drained manually. Or, once it is full, it can be drained automatically with an in-built pump. In the automatic mode, the pump extracts the water through a valve in the side of the removable bucket. Initially, I found this drain mechanism to cause faults during almost every operation. The bucket would fill, and then the pump would trip, perhaps because it sensed a leak in the valve to the bucket. The instruction booklet recommends removing and emptying the bucket, and then resetting the machine. But I found this to be ineffective. It would take another day or so of operation for the bucket to refill. I would then forget to check on the machine, only to find it several days later with the pump error again.
Instead, I found it best to reinsert the removable bucket as tightly as possible while it was still full of water and watch to immediately see if the pump operated correctly. Then if the pump faulted again, I tried reinserting the bucket, usually with a good whack on the front to tighten the fit.
Overall, it is an expensive machine that we bought for the automatic pump. When it works, it is very convenient for us. But we've had it for about 3 months, and it has required frequent attention to correct faults. I am also concerned that the tight fit it seems to require will eventually degrade, and we will have to use the machine in manual mode.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Marko Good dehumidifier; bad pump design
This unit is the largest dehumid I could find with a pump installed in the unit. I have used the 50 pint Delonghi with pump before this unit, for several years without any issues. However, this unit, while it is a great dehumidifier itself, leaves a lot to be desired with the automatic pumping feature. The unit removes just about as much moisture as you can throw at it, but the pump failed on this unit within just a couple of weeks. I'm thankful it was within the return period and have returned the unit without an issue. For this much money, the pump should work without fail.

It works as advertised, making the basement so much more pleasant. Don't know why i waited so long to get it, but connecting the hose to the sink is so convenient.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by BusyMom Excellent Choice!
This machine is quiet and effective. We installed it after moving into our rental property. We are very pleased with our choice. Longetivity of performance remains to be seen as it is only 6 months old, but we are off to a great start. Loved the free shipping!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by RCool1 This product does all it was advertised to do.
The 15ft. vertical pump accomplished my issue with no close floor drain. No more dumping water manually two to three times a day.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Mike I am pleased!
I researched many units that contained automatic pumps. This unit had the highest vertical capability and it works very well. Machine is quiet, controls are simple and the unit is easily movable and quite an attractive appliance. Highly recomend.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by humidinmichigan Pump function quit.
I bought this model specifically because it had an internal pump that would empty water that collected in its reservoir. I set it up according to instructions, which were pretty easy to follow. It was a nice size and had a neat appearance. The noise level was acceptable. It gave off a fair amount of heat as it operated. It did a great job collecting moisture from the basement of my home, but the pump function worked only sporadically at first and, after about 18 days use, not at all. I'm returning it to Home Depot, who've been great about allowing me to take it to my local store even though it was purchased on line.
