These are measured about 1ft from the front of the air cleaner.
speed on high(turbo)=69db
speed on 3=63 db
speed on 2=54 db
speed on 1=<50 estimate 45 db
The lowest speed is very quiet, except there's a low level popping crackling noise which is caused by the Plasma wave device. It's just barely audible in the room, but if your within 2-3 feet you can hear it. I sit about this distance from it and

I would think at the maximum level it's like a small vacuum cleaner. But in regular mode, it's pretty quiet.

Answer:
Don't know the db. but you can't hear it on low (#1). #2 is drowned out by the tv. It's a pleasant background noise that you have to listen for. #3 louder but very effective at clearing out odors quickly. Turbo is as loud as other fans at their top setting. Turbo is great for a quick clean of the air at parties.

I don't have a db meter, and no noise specifications are given in the accompanying literature, however, at the low speed fan setting I cannot hear the fan even when I'm right next to the unit. The turbo fan setting is audible but I would characterize it as much quieter than a typical bathroom exhaust fan. My house is in the middle of a major renovation project, and still the unit stays at the lowest fan Read More

Yes it does come with a remote control, although I've never used them (I have 3 of the units). It allows control functions like manual setting of the fan speed, but I just leave them in auto as they sense air quality and ramp fan speed up or down as needed.

According to the manufacturer's instructions you change the carbon filters every 3 months. ie discard and replace. The HEPA filter can be washed every 6 months, and this can be done 6 times, for a total life of 3 years. This really saves money, as other air cleaners have you discard and replace the HEPA filters every 6 months to a year.
The replacements filters can be found at www.sylvane.com, size 21.

My unit shipped with a washable HEPA and extra carbon filters, these would be good for about a year.

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 240 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Amazingly efficient As much as I wanted to believe that a washable HEPA filter air filtering machine existed (at a reasonable price no less), I have been thrilled with the consistent performance of this one! Super quiet, detects impurities and removes them automatically, keeps everyday dust from settling on furniture by taking it from the air. It's tough on odors, though I can't honestly say it's completely eliminated our tough one (cigarette). At this price, I will invest in another unit for another room that likes to capture and hold air, rather than circulate. i highly recommend this air machine, especially if it's not your first machine. You will be very impressed! January 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by HEALTH-Enough Said I have suffered with sinus problems, infections, and misery for years. Recently the problem was made worse by living in a windy and dusty location. I went to ENT specialist one after the other seeking relief. I purchased my Washable True-Hepa Air Cleaner with Plasmawave Technology online from Home Depot. It arrived in a few days. I removed the wrappings, plugged it in, and in a couple of hours, the air quality indicator lights went from red to green and since then my head and sinuses have witnessed a remarkable healing. I wish I had made the purchase sooner but I will forever be grateful that I did so. I do not have the capability of attaching pictures or videos of my unit. If I do, I do not know how to do so. Regardless, it’s compact, sturdy, and attractive appearance is only surpassed by its superb and near miraculous functionality. Thank you for a wonderful and healthy product. May 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent product for the price This air cleaner does a fantastic job of removing dust from the air. I bought it because I'm doing lots of remodeling and there is plenty of sheet rock dust and dust from drilling out grout from my tiles. After my last bathroom "project", I mopped the floor, vacuumed the rugs, all the fixtures and furniture, and washed all the bedding. I went to bed that night, but woke up all stuffed up. I moved the air cleaner into the bedroom, and voila! woke up later all cleared up. May 7, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Air cleaner operation We are very happy with this machine...we bought two and both are doing what they are desinged for...great asset to the home. May 17, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Not too bad I have a cockatoo (very dusty animals) who's cage is in a 90sqft room. I wanted to control the dust when she is in there when I'm not home. The amount of dust that she produces and the amount this thing can do are about neck to neck. I understand that this isn't normal household issues so it's not bad. May 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by what's a field I really like this Winix air cleaner. It does exactly what it claims to do. It makes the air way better. We have baby chicks in one room. I can't imagine not having. The room doesn't stink like chicks do. 5 stars May 1, 2016
