I just measured. The the pin that hangs down from the rectangular club is 2 1/8" so it goes into the floor about 2". The diameter is 1.5".

Has anyone installed this on ceramic tile?
Asked by: LGiGiC
Yes, Use a masonary bit to drill the hole. You can glue down the square plate so the tile does not crack from the small screws. Works great.

Could one door club be used for double bedroom doors or should one club be used for each door?

Could one door club be used for double bedroom doors or should one club be used for each door?
Asked by: wyplash
Two would be ideal so there would be minimal movement if the doors were forced upon.

Antique Brass Door Club is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from The door club in and of itself functions properly and... The door club in and of itself functions properly and effectively. The packaging creates metal-in-metal contact, and causes scuffing on the kick plate. I contacted the manufacturer and they advised that the marks are due to the packaging. You'd think they'd put cover film on the plate to protect it

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Enough Install for a Woman I have hardwood floors and found it easy enough to install. As a woman, It did take me several hours to figure it out and install it. One tip: Hang the door hanging device (device you hang it on when the club is not in use) several inches higher than the the club itself so you can easily see at a quick glance if its in the secure position or in the not being used position. I have used this for 4 years and will be installing this on our new house when it is finally finished.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product. Don't follow the instructions exactly. The size drill bit should be 9/16 not 5/8. Also put the hole 1/16 closer to the door than the instructions say. This makes it a lot tighter and more secure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value I recently suffered a burglary and have been buying a lot of door hardware. The quality/price of the door club has impressed me most. The install was a little tricky for me since my floor has a medium plush carpet rather than bare floors. You need to drill a 3/4" hole for the main post insert 2" out from the door. There is an optional square (with hole in center) plate you can screw to the floor to reinforce plywood for example. I cut an x in the carpet to drill the main hole, but the instruction say pull up the carpet to screw the square plate to the underlying wood. I didn't feel like going through the process of detaching and repairing the carpet, so I placed the plate on top of the carpet and screwed through the carpet to the wood beneath. Since the plate has the antique finish, it looks fine and since the screws are long, it's still solid. Just make sure your door has enough clearance to open. The other challenge was guessing the best place to drill. They recommend 2" but there was play both in the post hole and my door jam. I wanted the club to be snug against my door so that it resists simultaneously with the door latch rather than having the door kicked in breaking the latch and then hitting the door club. The problem is that if you drill too close, you won't be able to insert the club. I ended up drilling at the safe 2", but for a snug fit, I added a wooden shim between the door and the included brass strike plate. Also, it's not obvious from the description, but the club can be placed in two orientations. One way is snug against the door, and the other allows the door to be opened a few inches like a hotel safety latch. My only complaint was the packaging. It seems like Home Depot was selling somebody else's overstock. The packaging looked like it had been on the shelf for 5 years, the plastic clam shell was brittle and coming apart, the included super glue was solid and a fresher tube was taped to the packaging.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smart Purchase I purchased two of these for my new condo. They were fairly easy to install and tuck away nicely when not in use. Several of my friends are considering these for their homes. I feel much safer knowing that my entry is secure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Provides great sense of protection I have been using this product for many years. (We now have three) I bought it because it appeared to be the best affordable and formidable protection for my two young girls when they were home alone or when we were gone on vacation. After two decades, I still believe it's the best protection we might have, so we still trust our lives to the Door Club and recommend it highly.
