Do the clay tablets inside of these wear out over time and need to be replaced? If so where do you get those or do you have to buy a new unit?
Asked by: Becky
Here is the maintenance section of the manual for this sensor: This Rain Sensor operates automatically and requires no scheduled maintenance. However, the disks inside the sensor dial cap sometimes become contaminated with debris or insects. If this happens, use the following procedure to clean the Rain Sensor. 1. Turn the dial cap to the 3/4” rainfall setting, as shown in Figure 2. 2. Press the tab labeled “Press” on the side of the sensor body, as shown in Figure 6 (D). Then turn the dial cap about 1 1/4 turns further to remove the cap from the sensor body. 3. Remove the plunger and disks from the sensor body and wash them in clean water. 4. Reinstall the plunger and disks. Then reset the rainfall setting to the desired position, as shown in Figure 2. !!NOTE: If you wash the disks, give them at least 24 hours to dry before reinstalling them. If not, irrigation could be prohibited until they are completely dry.

Will the Model CPRSDBEX rain sensor work with a Hunter brand - SVC (Smart Valve Controller) that is battery operated?

Asked by: Alison
We do not have testing data that shows the performance of this combination of sensor and controller but it looks as though it could work in principal, as Hunter lists a basic rain sensor as an option for set up.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good Luck with this sensor The wick inside does not absorb enough water to deactivate the micro switch inside no matter what you set it too. Completely in the lowest rain setting and poured a bucket of water through the sensor opening on top and still will not turn off/deactivate the clock.l

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just that simple!!! I matched the Rainbird wired rain sensor to the Rainbird meter as shown in the directions and it went together that well. I just had to wait until it rained and watched as I saved money and a job well done...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cuts watering system IF it happens to rain Easy to install, but unknown if the unit works well since there has not been any rain to check. The mechanism is quite simple and the old unit could have easily been repaired by replacing only the switch, if it was made available. Since the old wiring went underground, I twisted and soldered the connect wiring, then applied heat shrink insulation tubing. I had to replace the new bracket with the old bracket because it was too short. A small level is handy.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Unknown quantity Construction and materials appear flimsy, however it is early days so it may eventually prove to be adequate. I have no idea whether it works or not as we have not had any rain with which to test it.
