Will these cut hard plastic

Asked by: taf
I used them for drip edge but they seemed sharp enough to cut hard plastic. I suppose it depends on the depth involved.

just how welll do these cut right and left?

I have read product description where it says "capable of cutting left, right and straight in light stock" I plan to cut 6" diameter holes into 10" and 8" round, rigid (28 gauge) ducts. Is 28 gauge (galvanized) considered "light"? Will the tight (6") diameter cuts on rather small (8 and 10") mains be a problem for this tool? Am I better off getting a left/right set? This is for a new install, so I can get all around the duct. Thanks
Asked by: Carpot
These can cut at a slow radius. If you are needing tighter turns in your cut lines, look for the 3 piece set. One for Left/Straight, Right/Straight and Straight (but can also do Left and Right at a slower turn radius).

My husband had one of these in his toolbox and I found that it's useful to do things in the house, like cut that impossible-to-open plastic packaging on items. Instead of dulling my household scissors, I always use these to cut them open--it's much easier and faster. I got one for myself to keep in the house because the one in the toolbox is pretty dirty and gross. :)

Cut edge is straight and sharp, but no burrs. I use them in conjunction with Wiss 7 in. utility shears (also available at Home Depot) for cutting copper sheet. The red and green pair can be used together to reduce waste while cutting through the center of a sheet.

The particulalar pair i bought ended up destroying the blade on the firstborn cut I made into 26 gauge, as the blade cut into itself and placed a nick in the blade. This pair will be going back, and I'll choose another pair.

The cutting blade is sharp and goes thru material that it is designed to cut. I have also used it to cut many other materials, with great results. Don;t be caught without this tool in your tool box!

I have been using WISS aviation snips since my Father brought a large straight-cut version home back in the 70s. I still have that pair of ships and have purchases a complete set of newer snips to tackle all kinds of sheet-product cutting needs.

The snips cut very well, and the handle provides a good amount of both control and comfort. I was drawn to this set of snips because they are made in the USA, and the quality is evident. I wish more tools were made in the USA.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Skinny Greens Snips I love love this brand tin snips, but for some reason this pair doesn't open very well. I've had to lubricate the springs. I shouldn't have to there brand new. Also, I bought reds at same time, and they're perfect. I love them.
