Small Ratcheting Pipe Cutter

Frequently Bought Together

Product Overview

The Wiss Ratcheting Pipe Cutter is ideal for working in tight spaces where traditional cutting tools will not work. The design allows the cutting wheel to rotate around pipe, while the handle ratchet only needs to move as little as 10 degrees. Cuts brass, copper, aluminum, PVC and other thin-walled conduit material.

  • Cuts 1/8 in. - 1/2 in. pipe
  • Easy replaceable cutting wheel
  • Ratcheting cutting head is made from high-carbon chrome steel
  • Handle frame has a nylon fiberglass construction for durability

Rated 3.4 out of 5 by 11 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Does not fit 1/2" nominal size copper pipe I was so looking forward to using this cutter to allow me to work in some areas of my home plumbing where pipe access is very limited. The packaging states that it “adjusts to cut pipe diameters 1/8” – 1/2” and since it refers to copper piping, I would assume the size refers to the "nominal" size of copper tubing for plumbing. Apparently my assumption is not correct, as I could not fit this cutter over the standard ½” copper pipe of my home plumbing system. Obviously, the O.D. of most copper pipe that is nominally referred to as ½” is actually larger than ½” by the thickness of the pipe wall. It would avoid confusion and wasted time, if the packaging was modified to note that it does not fit standard ½” copper pipe. My low rating reflects this labeling deficiency. I did not have a smaller-diameter pipe available so that I could try the product. The tool appears to be well made, and the cutting head is intentionally removable for replacement, but it is possible to lose the cutting head if the adjustment screw is fully loosened because the head will fall off (and depending where you are, you might not be able to find the missing piece). There should be a better way to avoid the potential loss of the head. And although the cutting head is fabricated from metal, the ratcheting mechanism is constructed of heavy plastic, so it may not wear as well as metal over time. Thus I gave a neutral rating for quality. October 17, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Beware of not cutting 1/2" std copper piping I got this to do some plumbing on 1/2" copper water pipe. To my amazing it didn't fit. It was just 1/16" to small. I look at the package again it stated on front 1/8" - 1/2" pipe diameters. Then I turned the package over and stated it cuts brass, copper, aluminum, PVC and other thin-walled conduit material. Ha, thin-wall not standard copper 1/2" piping. So I was very disappointed that it wouldn't work. So off to the store to get one that will work on 1/2" std piping. Just beware regarding the loosen the wheel to make sure you don't loose all the way, or you may lose the nut that tightens and loosens the cutter. I would have give it a better rating if it cut the std copper pipe. October 22, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Won't cut 1/2 copper I bought this to cut 1/2 copper water line. It didn't fit on 1/2 copper. Needs updated packaging. This does work well on smaller pipes. Looks like they sell a medium size cutter that would do 1/2". July 8, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by One more finger saver I have had to cut pipe very close to studs and inside walls. A small pipe cutter is very useful. Several times I have pinched my fingers with normal tube cutters, so this is a very nice tool at a comparable price. My only complaint is that most pipe tools use pipe sizes, so if you buy a cutter for 1/2 CPVC for example, the cutter can actually cut the 1 and 1/8 size pipe. This cutter goes strictly by the measurement and only cuts pipe between 1/8 and 1/2 inch. You will need the next size up for cutting 1/2 inch labeled pipe. October 25, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Good Pipe Cutter but Beware of Size Limitations I saw this pipe cutter online. When it arrived I was surprised at how big it was for being a "small" pipe cutter. The manufacturer stated it handles 1/8" to 1/2" pipe but the cutter head didn't allow me to fit a 1/2" copper water supply line inside. Very disappointing especially considering that 1/2" piping is a very common metal pipe size. You can cut copper, brass, aluminum and rigid conduit but this cutter has size limitations that restrict the applications if you can't fit 1/2" diameter pipe in the cutter head. That said, it feels very solid. Has a great weight. It states it's good for use in tight spaces, but I disagree. Even though it ratchets, the handle can interfere in really tight clearances. But the handle does give you leverage and a better ergonomic position than a "mini" pipe cutter. Handy to have in your tool box, but not a size I'll be using often and may not work in all applications. December 4, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Simple to use the design of the pipe cutter was nice and simple. It is easy to figure out how to use and has made a clean cut on my air conditioning copper tubing every time. It fits in my tool belt when I climb the ladder and stays out of the way. I purchased it at a great price too. August 26, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Leverage of a big pipe cutter, for tight spaces Does not cut 3/4" pipe. If you find turning your small pipe cutter hard, this tool gives more leverage without taking up space close to the wall. November 1, 2014
