I had my deck stained using Wolman's F & P Golden Pine a week ago. (5-21-15)

It is still so slippery its like walking on ice. The painters just applied and brushed out the stain and it looks great but you can hardly stand up on it let alone walk. What needs to be done to fix this problem easily and quickly?
Asked by: Bradley
I would give it another 4 weeks and If it is that slippery I would pressure wash it off . Let it dry for a few days or even longer, be sure that the wood is good and dry. apply the F&P again. I don't know how it was applied before, but use a Wooster Stain Brush and brush the stain on. Do not roll it on with a roller and brush it, just brush it in not leaving a heavy coat. The stain must go into the wood not float on top. You can apply a second coat about 4 to 5 days later the same way. Do not apply any more coats after 2 weeks. Sounds to me like this had a real heavy coat of stain at one time. Hope that I have helped you.

Will this product yeild good results if my decking was previously been waterproofed 3 season's ago?

I started this deck project 3 seasons ago and at that time applied Thompson's clear water sealer to new ceder pressure treated decking. How will this product work after cleaning with deck wash in this situation? Is there something else I need to do?
Asked by: PMsunnyside
Wood needs to be bare in order for proper penetration of coating. Conduct a splash test on bare wood to confirm water absorption before applying Rust-Oleum Wolman F & P Finish and Preservative. Note: Chlorine bleach cleaners alone are not recommended. These products degrade the wood structure, interfering with penetration and adhesion of protective coatings. To conduct a Splash Test, sprinkle several handfuls of water on a few distinct areas of the bare wood surface. If the water absorbs rapidly, the surface is ready to be coated. If the water beads, puddles or is not absorbed, an internal or external barrier exists, which must be eliminated before application of the preservative finish. Prepare the surface with Wolman® DeckBrite™ (Powder Concentrate), Deck & Fence Brightener (Liquid Concentrate) or DeckStrip® products and repeat the splash test to confirm water absorption before applying this product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from very disatisfied After having used this stain for 20 years, I was extremely disappointed recently when I used the stain on my deck and dock. I applied the stain in the same manner as previously applied but afterwards the stain developed a cloudy look on top that has gotten worse with each rain. The deck looks horrible. I am so discouraged. I called the company and complained to no remedy. The company was recently acquired by another company so I wonder if this product has changed its chemical makeup. Please select another product or test this product if you have used it in the past.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from so-so exterior wood stain I have been using the Wolman's natural wood stain for years on two decks with cedar railings. The railings are beautiful after refinishing but it only lasts for 1 year on horizontal surfaces and 2 to 3 years on vertical surfaces. That is the price you pay for viewing the beauty of cedar grain. As far as I know there is no other transparent stain that lasts any longer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome product, easy to use! We purchased this product to stain/seal the cedar deck and outdoor kitchen cover. As you can see, the contrasting stain selection and finished project is warm and inviting. Stain was easy to use and only required a one-coat application! We were so pleased with this product, we plan to purchase the 5-gallon container to stain our cedar privacy fence. We anticipate that this will make our fence look awesome and add additional life to that investment.
