Treated my deck five years ago with Cabots, it's mostly worn off by now. I'm in the mountains with snow, very dry air, hard on exterior wood.

To ensure proper adhesion of Wolman Raincoat Water Repellent Sealer, surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of wax, grease, oil, shellac, lacquer, mildew, and polishes. Remove wax with a wax stripper, shellac, with a paint stripper, and mildew with a solution of 10% household bleach and water. Old finishes in poor condition should be removed. If the water beads, puddles or is not absorbed, repeat use of a wood cleaner and test absorption again. Read Less

Answer:
We strongly advise against applying Wolman RainCoat Water Repellent Sealer with a pump up sprayer. Apply using a good quality nylon/polyester bristle brush (preferred method), short nap paint/stain pad, roller with ¼” nap, or spray. (Do not use a pump sprayer). For airless spray application, use a .015- .021 inch tip and 100 mesh filter screen at 250-500 psi. Backbrush drips, runs or surface puddles when Read More

Rated 5.0 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by all around great stain and sealer in one I bought dozens of samples of wood stain and sealer in one. And couldnt find any I liked more than this one. This stain has a rich chocolate brown color with just a hint of red. We bought a home owner sprayer to apply it and had never operated it. It went on well and we were spraying oak and cypress on our porch. It covers well with one coat. We are very satisfied so far with this product. The price beat most products as well. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product! I have 700 feet of wood fence. It would cost a lot to replace it, so I treat it every 2 to 3 years. I have used other products in the past; this being the first time for Raincoat. I applied the product with a pump-up garden sprayer. It coated evenly, and I found I did not have to brush back the excess material. The Raincoat dried a darker color than when applied. I used the Natural Hickory, and it made this old, grey fence look almost brand new. The product cleaned up easily from the sprayer with just water from the garden house. The overspray I had gotten on my metal gate was taken off with a sweep of a rag soaked in mineral spirits. I was also please with the technical support I got from calling Rust-Oleum. If this application lasts 3 years, as the container suggests, it will have been a great value. August 18, 2015
