Customer Questions & Answers

How much is an additional one gallon of the clear wood protector. We may need more than two gallons. Thank you.

Asked by: Ron1
I had to use approx 12 gallons to cover 112 feet of cedar fencing. You can purchase the 5 gallon buckets and refill the sprayer canister to apply it. Hope this helps.

I used to use Thompson Water Sealer until they changed their formula. Thompson has become cheap, goes on thick, and doesn't bond well. WoodRX has been my go to product. I install loads of wooden decks using pressure treated wood and I always offer this treatment to my customers. It sprays on easily like water then I go over any small puddles with a 3/8 nap paint roller. Let it dry and do a second coat the next day. When the entire deck is dry any rain or water will bead up and rolls off the deck. Two coats and water doesn't penetrate the wood. I have used the clear WoodRX and the stain WoodRX and both are excellent products. I build decks for a living and can tell you from experience that one treatment will last 2 years, you just have to respray every 2 years. There's no need to sand off the first WoodRX finish just respray it and let it dry. I highly recommend this product and it beats Thompson's Water Sealer hands down.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from so-so product Purchased in March, 2015 . Washed and then sprayed deck with Wood Rx Clear. Warranty said 3-5 years. Within 1 year (Feb 2016) deck was losing coating and water not beading up on deck. Contacted Wood Rx (company website) and sent pictures and asked about length of warranty. No response. Had to call them on phone. Talked to tech support and explained the problem. Was told I had to expect to recoat deck every year, not the 3-5 year. Not what I paid for. They said they would make it right and send me another container. 3 months and no replacement, no response. Like I said: so-so product, so-so customer support. meh

Recently had a new cedar fence installed,(Sept 2016), and wanted to keep the natural cedar look so I opted for the clear application.Easy to use and great for small applications. But If you're needing to cover large fence or deck area then best to buy the 5 gallon buckets and refill the sprayer. The interchangeable sprayer tips helps to cover the different hard to reach applications. Time will tell if the product actually does what it claims.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good sealer, good price! WoodRx with Pump Sprayer -- Interesting stuff. The sealer with sprayer is priced lower than many sealers without sprayers. You get a LOT of coverage per gallon. It appears to seal very well; a 2nd coat just beads up. I used it on my fence last year, was so impressed that I am using it to seal wood panels and boarding in my garage. This stuff is utterly clear when dry, and barely-milky while wet. I almost wish they put a little fast-fade dye in it, so you can tell how it is going on. Too thin of course won't seal, but a little too wet leaves a gummy area. Keep a brush handy to spread it around. TIP: hand tighten -all- hose nuts before first use, or you may get dribbles.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product! I had to order the Wood Rx online as it was not available in any local stores. But, the wait was not as long as predicted. I used the 2gal on my back deck - it spans the entire length of my house. I put it on very thin as I was not sure if it would cover the entire deck. After I finished the deck, I ordered another 2gal in order to do a second coat and also do my boardwalk. While waiting on the second one to arrive, I noticed that the deck was pooling rain water fairly well. I was very impressed especially since I had only managed to get one very thin coat on at that point. I still may try to hit it with another coat before it snows, but even if I don't - I actually feel that it has adequate minimum protection as is with only one thin coat. Which I feel says a lot for the product. The sprayer itself is OK - does an OK job of spraying, but mostly I was going behind it with a paint brush to distribute it more evenly. But, still applying in that manner is still much faster than only using a brush. Overall, I would recommend the product - it seals very well, which is the point.
