Answer:
Yes, the door opens on an upper hinge a lot like a garage door so you can fit your whole hand in there if you need to clean it out or repair something.

Customer Reviews

Rated 5.0 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Going Green Bluebird House This birdhouse is very fairly priced, sturdy, and mounts very easily on a tree (or also, I assume, a post). It took me less than 10 minutes to get it lined up and attached where I wanted it on our maple tree. Two days after I put it up, we had a terrible storm that left a lot of damage in our neighborhood, but the birdhouse did not budge an inch. Very solid. August 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A very nice Bluebirds-of-North-America-Association-approved birdhouse! We bought three. With the exception of some small and easy retrofits, i.e. adding stainless screws, changing the door latch), these are the perfect bluebird houses and we expect to enjoy them for many years to come. And, most importantly, they're easy to clean. Our wooden ones rotted after about six years. November 3, 2015
