Customer Questions & Answers

Does this timer/switch have a power on override?

Understanding this switch is a 1 to 60 minute timer. I am curious if it has a constant power on override. For example; if it were on a porch light is there a way to set it on to stay on until the override is removed (without having to reset the timer every hour). Like if you wanted the light to stay on while you're away from home.

Only problem is that it does not always turn on when it should and the knob needs to be jiggled. Then it turns on. I'd still recommend it though - good price, does what I want.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from nothing but problem Had to buy a new timer because it would stop and not switch off a few minutes before reaching 0. After a few weeks the new timer is doing the same. thing. How many of these do I have to buy?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to install, works fine Use to turn off garage attic light that used to be left on inadvertently. Had to order; store didn't stock anything that'd work with fluorescent lights, and digital ones are expensive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Keep it simple Replaced old spring-wound timer; after over 15 years of reliable service the spring became week and did not always turn off. Considered newer electronic models, but they have down sides. Some are not friendly with CFL/LEDs, they have limited, discrete settings, and are almost certainly prone to earlier failure, being susceptible to power surges. They also generally are more expensive. Bottom line, keep it simple and stick with reliable mechanical model. While I might refine how the faceplate fits on this unit, it was easily adapted to my application and works fine.
