After programming the timer three times, light came on at the correct time, but never shut the light off.
Display indicated the correct time on and off.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Karenannn Great "new" technology
You do have to pay attention to the "details" when programming this timer, but it works like a champ, and makes no noise, unlike earlier, mechanical timers. Only thing I wish it would do automatically is vary the time, daily, when it turns on/off. That is the only "regret" I can think of. It has a "battery backup" if the power fails.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by OldFarmer Best small timer that I have found
I have experience with a lot of timers, including one built into a fuse-box-breaker-box. Mechanical timers have a limited lifetime. These are digital, the only moving part appears to be a relay inside. Relays typically have a long life. Running a single light-bulb, this timer feels warm at the outlet, so if I wanted to run any load greater than a single light-bulb, I would suggest you move up the "Heavy Duty" model, (which I also have).
This timer has an internal "battery." I bought several of these and 3 of them displayed the correct time after setting unplugged for a year, which is impressive. The product description on Home Depot's website is accurate. You can program up to 20 events which is also impressive.

Bought 4 of these timers to give the house that "lived in" look while away on vacay. You can program up to 20 on/off times over 7 days which creates the effect of a room being entered and exited several times in a 24 hour period. Would have given 5 stars but setting the thing is a little challenging. Read the instructions carefully and practice with it a few times and connect a lamp and watch your program work to make sure you understand how to program it. Instruction sheet stores in a little slot on the timer itself so it doesn't get lost.. One of the best features of the product is an internal battery that charges when the timer is plugged into a wall outlet and supplies power to operate the timer if the house power goes out.

I bought this to use as a battery charger timer, but decided to test with a lamp first. The reason I went with a digital timer is the on-off times are variable according to my settings. The instructions need work, thus a star docked, but I was able to get it mostly working by playing with it before reading the instructions. The little slot for keeping the instructions is a nice idea. There are multiple on off settings and that is where the confusion lies. It has to be set to 'auto' in order to work with your set times. Now that I have it working with a 4w LED lamp, I can set it for early morning or late night on the same day and it is working great. I will most likely purchase another one for the first intended use I wanted.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by S33 Excellent product
Other timers that I have used either didn't work, only worked for a while, or were complicated to setup. This item works flawlessly. Once you read the instructions, the programming and operation are pretty intuitive. Pay attention to the on/off/auto setting. A very good product. The battery backup lasts forever.

Each of 7 days is programable separately, a nice feature. Large display is easy to view. This timer
is a bargain ! Programming is easy as well.

Easy to setup, digital and quite compared to the earlier analog model I had that kept on making continuous noise.
