I thought someone said it was easy to install these!! If I don't have a drill what other resource can be used. Will the nails work?? Just putting on a dog shed for cover and not worried if it looks terrific. Just don't want it to split when hammering. Any ideas????? I am female, older than dirt and don't have many skills to do this project unless it's easy. Thanks
Asked by: Nanny
My suggestion is based on your situation that you don't have a drill, and the assumption that the dog shed cover is of wooden material: regular framing nails and a hammer will do. Pls browse the following link to get some ideas: http://www.homedepot.com/b/Tools-Hardware-Hardware-Fasteners-Nails-Framing-Nails/N-5yc1vZc2a5 If the dog shed cover has sheet metal material, you may have to consider: http://www.homedepot.com/b/Tools-Hardware-Hardware-Fasteners-Screws-Sheet-Metal-Screws/N-5yc1vZc2bw in that case, a drill is preferred as it will be too physically demanding for you to use a regular screw driver, if not impossible. The above are just suggestions for your consideration.

Do you use a flathead or Phillips screwdriver? Or a hex socket to install them? Would like to see top view of the screw. Thanks.

Pressure Treated Lumber 2

The answer to the question about pressure treated lumber simply states that these screws are used to secure the plastic roofing to a wood frame. However, this does not address the question. Can the frame be made out of pressure treated lumber? The Preservative Treated Wood Industry recommends that fasteners are either hot-dipped galvanized or stainless steel to prevent corrosion. Please indicate whether or not this product is protected against corrosion in ACQ treated lumber. Thank you.
Asked by: Steve
Our fasteners are not approved for use with pressure treated lumber. You would want to source a fastener as recommended above, however, you will want to ensure that the fastener you use has an EPDM washer. These washers have been tested and are compatible with our roofing panels.

These are self tapping screws and with the rubber washer, seals it's own penetrations. Not sure if the seal is watertight, but it seems to seal the penetration pretty well. Cost is reasonable enough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Woodtite Roofing Screws After much shopping around at different home stores, Home Depot was the only carrier of the Suntuf Corregated Plastic Roofing. Though they did not stock the Ridgecap nor the screws to go with it - I was able to order them online - and even received the 10% discount for ordering - they came within 2 days and by the weekend was able to get the whole roof done. These Woodtite Screws are made especially for this type of plastic roofing and were SO easy to use - they were self-tapping and went easily through 3 layers of the plastic. No dropping, no loosing the rubber gasket (they stayed on every one of the screws). We are VERY pleased on the turnout - and would recommend to anyone without hesitation!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better quality Most washer assemblies of the 2" fasteners made by the same company were off-center to the shaft. I found the 1" washers consistently on center. Far better workmanship.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Product is fine, but the online pickup experience is bad The merchandise is fine, but the rep. there can't find my items and kept me waiting. I order the item online and received text message telling me the items are ready for pickup. The rep. there can't find my items and kept me waited for 30 min. An unpleasant shopping experience.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from leak problems I did not have a good experience with these fasteners. Overtighten and you get a leak. undertighten and you get a leak. I've had to replace washers with larger neoprene washers to correct the problem. I suggest you test as you go to see if the fasteners are working properly.
