First off, this is an 18V battery powered trimmer. You are NOT going to be able to fight through the Australian Outback brush with this. Now, that being said, this amazing lightweight trimmer is a perfect replacement for my old Craftsman rechargeable. The lithium battery is super light and on the first use I was edging and trimming like a pro! I'm going to include a picture I took of my driveway after the first use. The head is adjustable to get just the right angle for edging. The best part is, I got this on clearnace at my local HD in Northern VA for an absurdly low price. The only draw back I do have is that the instructions are basically small pictures and the head is a little difficult to move between angled and straight positions. But those are small issues on this overall great trimmer. I was skeptical going from 24V to 18V but am seriously glad I bought this item. It was priced less than a replacement battery for my old trimmer.

I bought this product because I have severe back problems but I love my lawn work. I can't use a gas edger because they are too heavy and bulky. When I saw this I fell in love with it. It's a great concept and was easy to use, lightweight and adjusting the head for edging/weed eating was also easy. Problem...batteries are worse then poor. Also, the unit itself didn't last one summer. The first thing to go was the auto-advance string. It wouldn't advance or it spit out string till I had a foot of it. I'm now looking for a small, lightweight gas edger. Thank goodness I was able to get my money back. I wouldn't have given this trimmer one star but you have to give it something to be able to post your review.

For the typical residential yard this is a great product. It is extremely light weight and starts very easily. I do however suggest buying a back up battery. You get plenty of power from the battery but about 35-45 minutes is it. Two batteries will easily do the average sized yard.

Recommend to a friend? You've got to be kidding. Ergonomically the unit is well made. Operationally I've seen more life in a one eyed, 3 legged dog named "Lucky". At the heart of the problem is the battery. My wife wanted this unit for it's weight and features. However, we didn't count on a battery that could not perform all of the trimming around a small 1,000 sq. ft. house, with an equally small city lot. No matter how we tried the trimmer never lasted for a pass once around our property. It was bought 3/10, used for 1 season. Then recently in 4/11 (after the battery's 1 year warranty was over) we charged the GT Worx several times, but the battery only brought to life the trimmer for a few seconds and we noticed a battery error. You guessed it! A dead $80 battery, which is about 3/5 the cost of a new trimmer. So much for lithium power... It's planned obsolescence at its finest. I'd suggest going to Home Depot and look at many of the other "well respected" cordless string trimmer brands that are truly worth the money and made by companies that know a little something about the word quality. GT Worx is an infomercial gone horribly wrong. Nuf said...

I enjoy the light weight, medium duty, and long battery life. My arms would hurt for a couple days after weedeating my and my parents yard, Now I can weedeat normal yard conditions (not heavy area's) without stress of elcetrial cord, or gas powered issues. Adjusting end make for cleaner lines and even close to fence, siding, and latex pool areas, with out damage.
