Regarding Worx 16" electric chain saw. What gauge extension cord should I buy?

I need to purchase a 100' extension cord for this chain saw. Should I buy a 14 or 12 gauge. It will be for light sawing of smaller tree limbs.
Asked by: drobs61
12 gauge, less chance of burning out motor. manual shows 12 gauge required at 100 ft.

What gauge & length electric cord?

I called Worx today (02/11/2015) and asked this question about the WG303.1 and WG304.1 and was told that you are putting out new manuals, and it would be OK to use 14 gauge/100' cord for both. When I get conflicting answers to the same question it stops me cold. What's the story? I'll be using the saw to cut up firewood - cutting 4" - 10" diameter logs in half, etc., for about 20 - 30 minutes.

am using to cut 30 inch diameter oak. I use 12 gauge extension 100 ft. long-let motor cool after 10-15 minutes. see no problem, no smell of overheating.

Then you cannot find replacement brushes, even the factory will not sell you any. This is my experience!!! I bought the saw about 3 years ago, used it sparingly until the brushes wore out now over a year ago. It just quit right in the middle of my job, that's when I found the brushes worn out!!! It's a shame, but this ONE WORX NO MORE AND THE FACTORY DOES NOT CARE!!! IT OFFERED ME A 25% DISCOUNT ON A NEW ONE!!! FOOLED ONCE BUT NOT TWICE!!!!

I called Worx customer service and spoke to Angel and explained the issue. He told me that the brake may have been on. I did as he suggested and pulled the brake off and presto, it worked. I did not put the brake on, so I didn't think that it was already like that when it was delivered because that wasn't part of the instructions to follow when turning it on. Good customer service thank you! It pays to buy items made in the USA.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ease of use, great customer service I bought a Worx 16" Electic chain saw over a year ago, it performed much better than a gas powered saw I had until I read the Worx reviews. I did however, burn out the motor. I called Worx directly, to ask what may have happened, they asked how long I had it, (which was an approximation on my part), and what the issue was. The customer service representative offered to replace it free of charge, and even pay for shipping back the original. Five days after the call I received the replacement. Customer service such as this is such a rarity, I am now a Worx customer for life! The saw does a great job around the yard, and cuts through 8" branches with ease. I would recommend Worx products to anyone!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cuts well however oiler is bad I used it a few times to cut up a large log into a few slices. It cut pretty quickly. The manual says to occasionally test the automatic oiler by pointing it down at a piece of cardboard and turn on the chainsaw. I could not get a drop of oil to come out during this test nor during normal use. I returned it immediately because I know it will quickly get ruined in this condition. I may re-order and try my luck again.

I received a refund and have ordered another one. Despite this I recommend it. I like the saw. It has gotten excellent reviews, seems heavy duty and I like the easy chain tension adjustment. I think the lubrication system will be good, using an oil pump which only runs when the saw is running. Looking forward to receiving the re-ordered saw.

The electric chainsaw worked perfectly on pruning back very large crepe myrtles (4" diameter). The cuts are clean and vibration is at a minimum while operating the chainsaw. I have had many gas operated chainsaws over the years but found them difficult to start or needed too much maintenance. Good product for a user that does not need a gas engine.

It worked much more effortlessly than my previous 12.0 amp electric chainsaw that it replaced. I did replace my 14 gauge electric cord with a 12 gauge one to use with this chainsaw. The heavier cord was not much more difficult to maneuver around for the cuts.
