Regarding Worx 16" electric chain saw. What gauge extension cord should I buy?

I need to purchase a 100' extension cord for this chain saw. Should I buy a 14 or 12 gauge. It will be for light sawing of smaller tree limbs.
Asked by: drobs61
12 gauge, less chance of burning out motor. manual shows 12 gauge required at 100 ft.

What gauge & length electric cord?

I called Worx today (02/11/2015) and asked this question about the WG303.1 and WG304.1 and was told that you are putting out new manuals, and it would be OK to use 14 gauge/100' cord for both. When I get conflicting answers to the same question it stops me cold. What's the story? I'll be using the saw to cut up firewood - cutting 4" - 10" diameter logs in half, etc., for about 20 - 30 minutes.

am using to cut 30 inch diameter oak. I use 12 gauge extension 100 ft. long-let motor cool after 10-15 minutes. see no problem, no smell of overheating.

I had an old craftsman 12" and worked for years, but weak. Then we bought a Remington about 4 years ago. It was better than the craftsman but not by much and finally let the electric motor smoke out this spring. We also had a Black & Decker 18v cordless, which is handy as a pole saw or up in trees for a limb or two, but that about all you get per battery. So I bought the Work 16" and I am amazed. It easily cuts through things like our Poulan Pro gas saw, with plenty of power, I should have bought this one years ago.

Then you cannot find replacement brushes, even the factory will not sell you any. This is my experience!!! I bought the saw about 3 years ago, used it sparingly until the brushes wore out now over a year ago. It just quit right in the middle of my job, that's when I found the brushes worn out!!! It's a shame, but this ONE WORX NO MORE AND THE FACTORY DOES NOT CARE!!! IT OFFERED ME A 25% DISCOUNT ON A NEW ONE!!! FOOLED ONCE BUT NOT TWICE!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well so far I bought the chainsaw about a month ago, cut all wood I had to cut, and so far I am very satisfied. It is very convenient, that it is so simple to tune the chain tension.

It would happily cut 4" to 6" branches. Did so several times within a year. But today I tried cutting a 10" pine limb down to firewood lengths. Not pushing hard, working the angles. In the third cut it smoked, slowed, then quit for good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One Word - Convenience I grew tired of bringing my gas powered saw in for carburetor maintenance every year. I was good at emptying the gas tank after every use and using gas conditioner but still to no avail. I am a casual user - just a homeowner with a fireplace so when my lawn shop mechanic tole me to look at an Electric saw - I was a little skeptical. As soon as i took it out the package, I plugged it in an started cutting ripped through a 9" branch in seconds. Love the convenience of not messing around with the gas to cut my firewood. I would definitely recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little saw! I bought this saw a month ago to clear some downed trees in my back lot. I was not expecting to much from this electric saw, but I was quite amazed. This saw cuts 12" trees like a big cuts true and straight.i really like the auto oiler. I truly do not have anything but good to say about this saw. I highly recommend this saw for anyone needing a smaller project saw. I love Mine!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful yet light. Purchased to cut 8x8 support piling for replacement purposes, the saw exceeded my expectations. This tool performs as well as a gas chainsaw without mixing gas and oil, no smoke and no need for east plugs. Clean, light and powerful. Thanks
