Product Overview

The XP645EW Motion Activated Solar Powered LED Security light is by far the most cost-effective way to illuminate and protect most spaces around your home, or business, including an entry way to a parking lot, garage, walkway, or recreational area. With its easy setup and lightweight design, this light conforms to your lighting and security needs and is especially useful when an electrical outlet is not accessible or convenient to install. The XP645EW solar security light converts sunlight to electricity, so lighting is available wherever you desire. Simply assemble and secure the light then place the solar panel in an area where it will receive direct sunlight for at least six hours a day (the attached 15 ft. cable provides sufficient length for easy placement). In Auto mode (normal setting), the light illuminates at night when motion is detected, then automatically resets after about 60 seconds.

  • Solar powered lighting, no electricity bill
  • Easy installation-no electrical wiring is needed and anyone can set up
  • White LEDs; white casing
  • Motion detection at a distance of up to 50 ft., range of 160°

It is pretty bright for my needs in a dog run and out need the front gate. It may not be bright enough if you want to illuminate a large yard. Also, I did buy a third light from the same company to be placed on the front of the house above the garage thinking it was identical to the first two. I was pleasantly surprised that this one actually comes on at dusk (on AUTO) and gets very bright when it detects motion. I am happy to have the light on for safety as several pickups in the neighborhood have had their tailgates stolen. The light may not power on until daylight but it is on most of the night. Unfortunately the new light only detects infrared light (????) when on the motion detector status. Read Less

Answer:
You can't - the company XEPA doesn't answer the phone or respond to emails and Batteries Plus doesn't carry them. I have 2 of these and now they are worthless. I will buy another brand to replace them. Total waste of money.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Failed after six months I installed this light last December. It worked well for a few months, but in June it failed completely. Actually, it failed twice. The first time the on/off/auto switch on the bottom had gotten wet due to water leaking into the enclosure and was corroded and not making contact. I soldered the wires together to bypass the switch. After this fix it worked for a couple of more weeks and failed again. This time it appeared to be the light control circuity since the batteries were still fully charged.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very poor quality product! I installed 5 units and 4 went bad after a couple of rainy days. Water somehow got into the light component and the circuit boards are soaking wet - all 4 units! I opened them up, dried the circuit boards; and they worked again. Don't buy them unless you will install them in a dry area.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lasted three months I bought two of these lights and one of them is working fine but the other went out after only three months. Since the item is clearly in warranty I contacted the manufacturer who wants me to ship it back to them at my cost! I will do this but I am very unhappy that I have to pay for a defective product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very bright light I bought 2 of these for the side of my house which has no wirings. They are surely very bright and simple to operate. Just plug the wire from the solar panel to the lamp base, and select the switch position (Off | Auto | On) and you're almost there. The unit comes with the hole-drill guides (1 for the solar panel, 1 for the lamp base), so I don't think I'll have any problem with mounting the things (can't mount them yet as it's been raining since yesterday). My early primary concern was how bright the light will be. But after turning it on last night, I have no more concern and am very happy with the purchase. The only other concern is how long the battery will hold up, in term of holding charge. Also, the unit is made of plastic, so it may not endure hot summer weather. But that remains to be seen. For $35, I feel it's the fair price. Wouldn't pay the original price of $70 as that's ridiculously high.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Failed after a few months Easy to install, great light source but the unit failed after just a couple of months. Inspection of the solar 'panel' showed that moisture had seeped in corroding the connections and battery. Very poor design for an item that's meant to be outside. If you have one and it's still working, do yourself a favor and seal all around any potential openings that water can enter.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lousy! You have a product that is not worth the time to open the package! The settings are a joke, the light flickers and is on a blinking spasm for 3 seconds or less. It does not hold a charge and has been played with to correct at least 2 dozen times. What a total waste of time, effort and money - very unhappy - this is a LOUSY product at any price... free would be too much!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Flexible, portable light for travel and home. Out of the Box a Light w/Electric Eye and a Rechargeable power source with 15ft wire, a Manual and a bag of screws weighing less than 3lbs, can fit in your overhead airline bag. I’m installing this in a corner of the house that has electric security lights I don’t use, because the electric eye doesn’t work. The Solar lights will be my primary security light, with the heavy metal electric as a backup storm light. The LED lights, according to the manual, are 200 Lumen, 6500K. My electric 100 Watt halogen is about 1,600 lumen. There are 45, up to 15 watt LED bulbs and I thought that was more Lumens than 200. Math aside, this LED light is brighter than I expected, but not as bright or hot as the electric flood. It lights the entire side of a small yard next to a patio. The Motion Distance in the LED Manual says good up to 50ft. Walking straight at the electric eye in the dead of night it didn’t light until about 15 feet, but it wasn't fully charged. A Features of this LED Security light, the Electric eye is on a swivel. It can be moved left and right. After installation you can change the area the light covers, that is convenient for security. The 150 degree motion range is about right. Ater walking into the eye to turn on the light, I stood still until the lights went off. The lights were triggered when I moved my hand. Portability makes these a very attractive deal, if they consistently recharge. I'll know that with long term use. The lightweight design is good for backpacking. I know some condo like hotel chains that could use them as well. Cons, The Xepa manual could give more in depth information about a couple of features. Xepa wants you to replace batteries with their proprietary battery, The 15ft wire is thin and looks like a chew toy for our wild squirrels. I’m devising a plan to hide them in a plastic wire cover as I write! As a portable solar light I've rated this 4, if I was rating it as a permanent house feature it would be lower because of the light plastic design.
