Since I already had the bigger, standing polar bear, I decided I had to have this little guy to go with the big one. This one is considerably smaller, and sitting down - but he's definitely cute and the two look like they belong together. Construction on this one is similar to the big one - it's a hard, durable clear plastic shell (like long beads of clear plastic), with wire coming from the rear. It has a transformer to plug it in - we installed it on the porch for the holidays...bringing it inside each night to ensure it wasn't exposed to the elements too much. The little blue ribbon bow seemed unnecessary, so I took it off. These two are adorable together!

The bear lites up very well. He's so cute too. I would have given it a 5 star but you have to turn it off by either unpluging it or pulling the wire out from the plug's base. It's a great nightlite for the living room to the hallway.

Very bright little thing. My little boy loves it. Don't expect to use it as a night light (too bright)!

Maybe I am being silly, but I love this bear. I may have to get another one. I am torn between butting him on the front porch, and leaving him on top of the pie safe in the dining room. For now, the dining room is winning.
Not only does the bear look nice, but it makes a nice night light as well. One thing you have to understand is that I have an old house, with the bathroom off the kitchen. To get to the bathroom from my bedroom, you have to go through the dining room, and kitchen. The light switches for the living room light are not by the bedroom door. So navigating through the dining room requires a light. (I do not want as much light as the overhead light would give in any case.) This bear does a good job without drawing a lot of power. I have taken to leaving him on 24 hours/day.
The bear is solidly constructed. It should take some abuse without breaking! It also comes with a long enough cord that you are not going to need an extension cord is most instillations. As an added benefit, the cord only carries low voltage, so there is less danger of a shock if you pinch the cord in something. This is a big advantage if you are using it in a kids room!
About the only thing I can think of that would make the bear better is if it had the option of only turning on when it is dark. But that is only handy if you are using it strictly as a night light. When you use it as part of your outside decorations, you have it controlled with the rest of the lights. Inside, you can always put it on a timer, or a photo censer. That is probably what I will end up doing when the "new" wears off.
