Can I order a new led light and is there a battery in the unit that needs to be replaced

Asked by: chris
There is a battery that can be replaced when needed after 2-3 years. Check with Home Depot how to order a led light. The led bulbs should last 15,000 hours. No replacement any time soon.

How would I anchor down to.stay upright in yard all year
Asked by: Judy
Buy a 5-gallon plastic bucket, bury it in the ground with the rim at ground level, fill it with concrete, insert the anchor bolts in the concrete with top of the bolt attached to the base of lamp post. You should have a good solid anchor.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not Quite Narnia This lamp looks fairly nice, but the overall performance is a little disappointing. The lamp needs a lot of sunlight to operate, and so far it hasn't come on for 50-70% of the nights I've had it installed. It's winter right now though, and I'm hoping it may get better in the summer. Installation: - The lamp comes with a paper mounting template for drilling holes for the anchor bolts. - The manufacturer specifies that the lamppost is supposed to be mounted on asphalt or concrete, so if you were planning on setting this up in the middle of your yard, you'll need to pour a concrete mounting pad. (This model is more suited for on top of a retaining wall or something though, since it's only 3.5 feet tall. The included instructions were for the 6.5 foot model as well though.) There are three pretty hefty expanding bolts included with the lamp post, but no other method for mounting it. So you'll need a beefy drill and a masonry bit to complete the installation on concrete. - I plan on eventually building a 3' tall cedar base for it, but for now it's holding out pretty well just set on the ground with a few 8" metal stakes driven through the 3 mounting holes and into the ground. Quality/Materials: - I was pleasantly surprised to find that the lamppost is made out of cast aluminum rather than plastic. - Putting the lamp together should have been pretty easy - just attach the pole to the base with the included allen key and screw on the head. However, the threaded tube for attaching the head to the pole was loose. The only way to tighten it securely was with a deep well socket, which I didn't have. I hand-tightened it as best I could, but it's still somewhat loose, and the lamp head can be spun on the post easily. This could have been easily remedied with a little quality control or more attention to detail in the factory assembly process. - The lantern has actual glass panes rather than plastic. The glass has tiny bubbles all over it which make for a really cool effect when the lantern is on. It casts slightly shadowed ovals all over the ground when the light shines through the bubbles. - The motion detector and on/off/mode selection switch are a little unsightly, especially since the lamppost itself looks pretty nice. The waterproof boot around the switch is functional, but it does detract from the overall appearance of the lamp. - The instruction manual specifies that the battery will need to be replaced after about two years or 300 cycles, which doesn't seem like a very long time. I also can't figure out how they got two years out of 300 cycles/days. Maybe they figured in that the lamp only comes on less than every other day. Performance: - The lamp has two modes (other than "off"). The first is a continuous on at a lower brightness level that's supposed to conserve the battery in order to last the entire night. When the motion detector is triggered in this mode, the lamp will light up to full brightness for 30 seconds, and then returned to the lower brightness level. The main problem with this is that the motion detector will only work for one side of the lamp. So if you want the unsightly motion detector to pick up your movement, you'll have to face it toward the side you most often see. The second mode is a continuous on at full brightness, which only lasts for about 4 hours after dark. Both modes work well, and the lamp usually comes on after dusk when it's just about completely dark. - The battery life/solar charging capability is really where this thing is a poor performer. If the battery doesn't have over a set threshold of charge stored up, the light just won't come on at all. So far, the lamp has never come on for two consecutive nights. Sometimes it goes two nights in a row without turning on. I understand that it's solar powered, and it needs enough sunlight to operate, but it's just too unreliable for me. Unless the day is completely clear with full sun, the lamp won't light up at night. If it's overcast for just half the day, you can forget about it turning on. Maybe I'll get better performance from it in the summer, but for right now, it just isn't working well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Outdoor Lighting This solar powered post lamp is a great way to add light to your yard. The light has 2 settings, high and low, and also has an OFF switch. When the lamp is on the low setting, there is a motion detector that switches the lamp to high for 30 seconds when it detects motion, and then back down to the low setting if no motion is detected. That makes it kind of nice if you put it near a walkway and it brightens the area up if someone is walking nearby. It lights up about 13 feet out from the lamp post. There is a sensor that turns the light on automatically at dusk. The light stays on about 12 hours on the low setting after charging in full sun. Mounting hardware was also included.
