This was exactly what I needed, if for a slightly less than traditional purpose. I originally went in looking for the long dowels Home Depot sells but felt they were not firm enough for what I needed. After seeing the steel top rail in someone else's cart - I knew I had found what I needed.
The customer service reps were great and directed me to where I needed to go, and even gave me advice on how deep to bury it to make sure it could handle kids. I purchased high gloss white spray paint (thanks to the paint guys who directed me to what I needed quickly) and it became light and cheerful.
This steel top rail brought a lot of joy to a lot of people. And it's hardy enough to last years and years. Thank you Home Depot!

I needed a handrail for workshop stairs. This steel tube is within the required size range, and its
swaged end made it easy to join multiple lengths to obtain the overall length that I needed. I used
a 3/16" pop rivet on the underside of the joint to secure it. 3/16" pop rivets in stock handrail brackets,
with a small amount of epoxy putty, did the job for mounting the rail. Building inspector said it met
the building code requirements nicely.

I have a large in ground pool that is more than ten feet deep. I needed a replacement for my cleaning pole. The commercial poles are expensive, short and light-weight aluminum. I bought two of these. Drilled a hole for the locking pins to fit in on one end and a 3/8 inch hole to join the two with a pin. At 17 pounds it is heavier than the aluminum ones, but it works great.

Here they advertise this as 1 3/8 OD but what is in the store is 1 5/16ths. Even the skew tag describes it as 1.31 OD not 1.375 Just make sure it will match up to your existing stuff prior to purchase. Otherwise it is a fine product.
