Our YARDGARD 1-5/8 in. Dia x 6 ft. long 16-Gauge Galvanized Steel Line Post is part of the fence framework and helps support the chain link fabric. These posts should be spaced a maximum of 10 ft. apart and 24 in. in the ground. This post is used for a 4 ft. high chain link fence.

  • Provides vertical framework support to which the fabric attaches

Answer: 
i have a whole yard with them driven into the ground and no problems. best practice is to dig the hole and cement it but that takes a lot of time and effort. you could use this with wood but i wouldn't recommend it. if you do decide to do that, you should cement them in due to wind load of the wood.

Yes you can use a post driver to put into ground. Not really for wood fencing.

you can drive into firm to hard ground, you can use a wide range of materials together if you put your mind to it.

This product is not designed to be driven into the ground directly. Holes should be dug using post hole diggers and then posts should be set in concrete for ideal results.
