HOW FAR APART SHOULD THE 2-1/4X2-1/2IN X 7FT. METAL U CHANNEL FENCE POSTS BE PLACED?

WE WANT TO USE THE FENCING TO KEEP DEER OUT OF OUR GARDEN. WHAT WOULD I USE TO KEEP RABBITS OUT?
Asked by: LIZ
It really depends upon what you're hanging on it, soil strength and how you want it to look. With wire fence, the more the spread the more the sag. I wouldn't recommend it for a heavy wooden fence.

What will be the optimal height above ground after installation?
Asked by: Sebastian
About 5.5" above ground. If you want to secure 7' high fence then you will have to extend the height. I used 2x2" pressure treated lumber cut to desired length and secured it with outdoor screws and cable ties. Hope thiss is helpful.

This product is very strong. A heavier gauge steel would have been nice. The store didn't have anything longer. 2 feet into the ground would be better. I only put a foot or so into the ground. Does the job.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Rusty Posts Bought the posts for deer fencing and they work great for that but the posts must have treated roughly. There was as much rust on the posts as green color.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Simple posts for a quick weekend job Initially received wrong length posts. Didn't catch it till at home unloading so I had to return to Home Depot for an exchange Wasn't compensated for my trouble and loss of time, not even an "I'm sorry". Nothing It was their error and should have been caught since everything is UPC scanned these days

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wish it came in full 7 ft. height from the ground level The deer fence is 7ft. from ground level but these posts were about 6 ft. from the ground level. So I had to extend the length using 1.5ft. piece of 2x2 pressure treated lumber. Wish they sold a kit containing an extender piece that can be slide over the top and insert another 1.5 or 2 ft. pole.
