Rated 3 out of 5Â by DIYinTampa Overall decent, but...
We bought two of these to replace two old/rusted drive-through gates. The finished product looks decent, but note the following:
1) One gate looks like galvanized steel, which I was expecting. The other gate looks like it was painted with a sparkly metallic silver color on some of the parts. You can't tell unless you look closely, but it had me questioning whether I had been sent incorrect parts.
2) These gates (the 5 ft high by 6 ft wide model) don't come with a scroll on top, even though it is depicted in the picture. I don't care much about the scrolls, but I replaced another smaller gate (in a different part of my yard) with a Yardgard model that did have the scroll, and I was hoping they'd match.
3) I found the instructions to be a little misleading. First, if you are planning to use the gate as-is (without trimming to a shorter size), the instructions still tell you to trim at the largest size possible (this is confusing, the instructions should just tell you to use the as-is size if you have a 72" opening, and to trim if you have smaller than a 72" opening). Second, the instructions tell you trim if the OPENING size is X inches wide, not if the GATE size is X inches wide. I don't know if most homeowners will catch this, but I missed it (and I mistakenly made cuts and had to buy a third wide gate after realizing my error). If you are trying to replace an old gate that you know is X inches wide (these are replacement gates after all), it might just be better if the conversion table reflected GATE width not OPENING width.
4) I needed 2 gates to fit a 12-foot-wide opening. The gates needed to be 69 inches long each, but the max width of each gate is 68 inches (if you follow the instructions). I ended-up widening each gate by one inch (a half-inch on each side), which worked out fine. I don't know how common a 69-inch gate is in a double-gate situation, but that was my scenario so I had to improvise a little.

You may see this item assembled at the store - buy it there if it is the right size and you can transport it to your project. If you order it delivered, you will receive a box of disassembled parts that require tools, space, and a mastery of handling heavy rolled chain-link. Controlling and cutting the chain-link requires some skill. The advantage is the ability to create the exact size for the opening. The finished product is sturdy and reliable either as a fixed patch or as a swinging gate.
