Customer Questions & Answers

How strong are the fence panels since they are clipped together?

We have two kids and 2 large dogs who all love to play. The yard has a slope at the edges to the road. If they were to fall into the fence, will it still contain them? Or will it be easier for them to bust through because the panels are clipped together and not one continuous piece. I am aware of the tension wire at the bottom and the clips at the top. Any information would be greatly appreciated!
Asked by: esoday
The clips are very strong, in fact as strong as the wire mesh and able to withstand UV and high/low temperature extremes.

Looking at the photos and reading the product description there appear to be three SETS of clipped together 2 ft X 4 ft panels, so each completed "accordian" panel SET (made up of 4 individual panels) would measure 8 ft long. So, three panel SETS @ 8 ft = 24 ft as described. For my purposes, I just need individual non-connected 2 ft X 4 ft wire panels. What are the clips holding these panels sets together made of, and can they be easily removed cut to yield a total of 12 - INDIVIDUAL 2 ft X 4 ft panels? Thanks.
Asked by: Dolt45
Thanks for the reply, but my question was can the product be easily broken apart to yield 12 - individual, non-connected, 2 ft X 4 ft panels? I want to build an enclosure where the panels would be fitted into standard 2 X 4 lumber framing. Are the clips holding the panels together plastic or metal? Can the clips be removed or broken/cut with pliers or a hacksaw without damaging the panels as the panels are being disassembled? Thanks.

Can I purchase a gate wide enough for a car?

Asked by: Bern
I purchased 2 four foot self closing gates. I had asked when I used the chat line about a drive through gate but was shown a taller gate and not black. That would have looked great! NOT. I noticed when I tried to fin these kits again on line that there was a 9.5 wide gate.

What is the height of this fence?

The description portion says it is 96 inches tall, but the picture says it is 4ft tall. That make the fence 48 inches in height not 96inches? Should correct the error ;-)
Asked by: TheGirlNextDoor
The posts are probably 96 inches tall so you have enough to put in the ground. The finished height is 48".

The photo is deceptive in that the description says 4ft. x 24ft. and the picture shows 3 panels which led me to believe that I would be getting 3 4ft. x 8ft. panels and that is not the case. Instead what I received was what you see in the picture is 1 panel and is shown 4ft tall 8ft. long and the three panels shown are 4ft.x 32inches and attach to one another with some plastic clips. I did receive 3 sets of these per box, so technically it was 4ft. x 24ft. but for my application the three panels connected together with plastic clips would not work, so I returned them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Freestanding fencing The fencing is medium-duty, I would say, with a medium-gauge painted wire panels and plastic clips to join sections. It's certainly able to stand on its own, but it is not as stiff or heavy as a galvanized wire panel fence joined with steel clips that I have from earlier years.

It is easy to work with and seems to be very sturdy. Instead of using the Yardgard frame, I cut slots in 2x4s. The panels slide in to the slots, to lock them in place. It feels like it would be very difficult to push out, which is exactly what I was hoping for. You can sit and look through it, but also feel secure that no one can fall through it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Dog-Pen I bought this fence to build a dog-pen (32'x28') for an apartment complex. The fence is very easy to put together, but note that the mesh-fencing will only go the distance of two top-rails at a time. For example: we chose to put posts every 8 feet on the long side (4 8-foot sections making 32 feet long) and 12 feet on the short side (2 12-foot sections and a gate making 28 feet long). The fencing provided does not allow you to chain 4 sections of fence together to reach from one end of 32 feet to the other, you have to take the middle post and use it as a terminal post. (there are brackets designed to stick out from the terminal post, effectively reducing the distance the mesh-fencing needs to go by about an inch, thus if you chain four sections of fence together, it does not reach 32 feet, it reaches about 4 inches short of 32 feet, which is too short to connect to the brackets on that end.) So what I did to avert this problem was to put the brackets on the corners, and on the middle post and this worked fine. On the 28' side I broke the fencing into two 6-panel sections and terminated each section on the post in the middle (12' in) because likewise, 3 sections of fencing don't stretch quite enough to make the 24' length I needed. Outside of that, my fence was on a slight slope, and it looked great I felt. The fencing steps with the slope and looks fantastic. The tension wire holds the fence together well - and indeed the fence is used to keep in small dogs, which the residents have praised highly. They love the new dog area, and it is working great for them. With this fencing system we got a fence that looks great, is not expensive, and is very sturdy. It does not intrude on the visual environment, and it looks way better than Chain Link, while still being see-through (which was important to us for security and observation reasons). Also, try to find a way to stand the gate up and test it before you cement it in, it's hard to measure for. Also, the hinges are a bit loose, so they let the gate hang down a little too much, we supplemented this by sticking a washer in the loose space of the bracket to tighten it up and keep it as close to upright as possible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great choice I'm very happy that I chose this fence over the standard chain link. My husband and I had never installed a fence before and we are very pleased with the ease of installation. The video shows a flat yard (which would have been extremely easy), but we put the fence to the test up hills, through woods, and rocky land. It looks beautiful and we've gotten several compliments from our neighbors and guests. I highly recommend this product. Jenn/CT

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Thin walls-weak-structurally insufficient Purchased these 1.75" inch posts to accommodate the YardGard Select double gate special ordered from Home Depot since readily available 2" steel posts will not work with the hinge hardware provided by the manufacturer. The posts were set 2' deep, perfectly straight and plumb, 100 pounds of concrete on each post, and set for 24 hours before loaded. The posts are too weak to support the gate weight they are designed to support. Both gates sag and are not level as a result of the defective posts. Furthermore, the sag of the gate makes the provided double gate latch inoperable. Now you have to lift on gate slightly so that the frame can clear the latch frame to open the gate. The gate is nicely built and perfect for the application. The accompanying posts, which you are stuck purchasing, for that specific gate (1.75") are worthless and do not serve the purpose intended. Do not purchase if you expect to have a double gate which is level and operates as designed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy install, but pricey I used the fence panels with treated lumber posts, instead of the posts from the kit. It worked well and I was able to cut one of the sections that was just under 8 feet in length. My biggest objection to the product is that the fence post brackets are not sold separately. Because the manufacturers assume you'll be using their posts, they require you to purchase a lot of additional hardware (fence post caps, etc) that are not necessarily needed. I also used my own galvanized screws so I could anchor the post-to-panel brackets more securely in the treated lumber. Overall, it's a high quality product. I just wish the parts were less expensive.
